Maryland hunters killed fewer deer during this year’s two-week firearm seasonthan last year, according to the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.
State officials confirm that there was a 13 percent drop in the number of deer that were killed during this year’s firearm season, which ended Dec. 8.
Brian Eyler, who is the deer project leader for the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, said that he was not surprised by the numbers. He told WBAL that various factors may have caused the decrease.

Maybe the deer are getting smarter.
ReplyDeleteThis will somehow get blamed on Obama.

I think they need to take another guess at just how few deer there really are in the last few years. I personally have seen a huge decline in the amount of deer I see during my hunts. These crop permitt programs are slaying the deer poulation. Soon we will be like Pennsylvania and have to travel outside the state to hunt if they keep up the pace with these crop permitts.
ReplyDeleteThe deer don't have to come out looking for food, it's been so warm they are full and satisfied right now. The best deer hunting is when it's very cold because the deer are out looking for food to eat.

ReplyDeletemaybe bubba just ain't a very good shot.
ReplyDeleteA lot of hunters don't bother to check in deer since it's on the honor system.
ReplyDeleteI see deer every time I'm in my stand , mostly does but plenty of them.
Remember , they are mostly night time feeders and day time sleepers.
I was reading the DNR site the other day. There are statistics on about anyone injured while hunting. Seems like people are responsible with their guns but when it comes time to get in and out of the tree stand they lose their common sense. I would say 98% of the injuries were due to the tree stand. Either climbing up into, falling out of or it breaking while they are in it.
ReplyDeleteI posted the 3:58 comment and might I say I am just an informed wife of a pretty awesome hunter. ;-) Thanks for the kind comments.
ReplyDeleteIt's the big rains we had and record acorn production this summer/fall. Deer don't have to leave the woods to find good food this year. Stake out some white oaks at dusk and you might get lucky.
ReplyDeleteBeen too warm a year for you idiots that do not know about hunting, and yeah I guess you could blame this on Obama b/c that Crack-Head calls warm weather "GLOBAL WARMING" so he can tax us more.
