NEW YORK (The Blaze/AP) — The New York City homeless man – whose gift of boots from an NYPD police officer became an online sensation – is back on the streets with no shoes.
The New York Times found him Sunday night wandering barefoot in Manhattan. The paper identified him as Jeffrey Hillman, formerly of South Plainfield, N.J.
Asked about the $100 all-weather boots Officer Larry DePrimo gave him on Nov. 14, Hillman says he’s hidden them because “they are worth a lot of money.”
He says he’s grateful for the gift, but he wants “a piece of the pie” because the photo was posted online “without permission.”
“I was put on YouTube, I was put on everything without permission,” he added. “What do I get?”
Still, he was grateful.
A freaking free pair of boots so your feet don't fall off, what else do you want? I sympathize with his situation but what else does he deserve based off another mans kindness?
ReplyDeleteThis guy will turn other well intentioned people away from helping the homeless. There has actually been a long succession of homeless people who have pursued litigation following acts of kindness. For instance those who sued soup kitchens because they got food poisoning, supposedly from eating there. The lawsuit bounced back and forth between the NY city restaurant that donated the food and the soup kitchen that served it.An immunity law needs to established for generosity, like the good samaritan law for first responders.
ReplyDeleteYou got a pair of shoes!!! Now... GO GET A J....O....B!!!!!
ReplyDeleteHe chooses to live this way, just like the majority of homeless people. They are destitute by choice. Mental illness is the biggest factor in the homeless community.
ReplyDeletemaybe obammy will make him the next secretary of state, since hitlery clinton is dumpin' the job soon. they are equally qualified.
ReplyDeleteWe cannot help those who won't help themselves!
ReplyDeleteFolks, He knows if he falls asleep wearing those boots, they will not be on his feet when he wakes up. THAT'S why he hides them, and why he can't be seen hiding them or getting them out from where they are. Think about that.
ReplyDeleteNo 4:11 pm he will be Democratic Presidential runner for the Democrats in 2016!

And YOU know this HOW?
Chop his feet OFF.
ReplyDeleteDo you think he choose to be mentally ill? It is sad when a medical condition causes a person to be like this. Be thankful you are the fortunate ones.
ReplyDeleteThat is why I never help anyone but me, God said he helps those who help themselves!
ReplyDelete9:27. God also says do unto others. People can't help having mental illness. So many of the homeless do. I don't think anyone would choose to live the way they have to. As for the boots they would be stolen off his feet if he fell asleep with them and yes he could be killed for them and im sure he doesn't understand YouTube or the press and just thinks he should get something because he thinks others are. You try living that way for awhile. God just doesn't help those that help themselves he helps those that help others.
