Attendance Doubles At Local Gun Show

The nation's state of economic uncertainty and the recent school shooting that struck the town of Sandy Hook just two weeks ago are having no affect on area gun sales. In fact, gun sales are booming and tickets to gun shows are a hot item.

"This is the Nation's Gun Show," says Annette Elliott, president of Showmasters Gun Shows. She and her husband are the organizers of the gun show currently taking place in Chantilly at the Dulles Expo Center - one of the biggest gun shows held in the D.C. area since the Connecticut school shooting.

Elliott says the gun show's attendance has doubled since the shootings and since recent conversations of gun control.

"Literally, the exhibitors are running out of merchandise. They are running out of ammunition. They are running out of assault weapons, and the handguns are moving rapidly also," she says.

  1. I attended the Dulles show on Friday. I thought that Friday would be the best day, since a lot of people had to work. Wrong! I stood in line for a half hour with hundreds of other people to get in when the show opened at 3 PM. The show was so crowded, that I could not get close to many of the tables to see the merchandise. There was still lines to get in when I left. Ammo was going out the door like crazy, as were hi- cap mags, and rifles. There were lines to fill out the paperwork for handguns at most booths. 223 ammo was selling out at $989 per thousand rounds. I counted 15 peopel in one line to buy ammo from a dealer. Several ammo dealers were sold out of 223 the first hour. 223 ammo used to be $230- $270 per thousand at shows. Obama has caused many to hoard ammo and guns. Looks like he will be "Gun Salesman" of the year again in 2012 and 2013.

  2. Me again.... There were protestors across from the entrance holding signs and chanting Shame NRA and Ban assault weapons. They moved them off of the private property to the sidewalk on the road in by the time I left. The media was allowed into the show to interview people. That is a first for me. Most Virginia gun shows were "No photography" inside. I'm sure glad they didn't interview me. They would not have liked what I have to say. My 50+ guns, rifles, shootguns, and pistols, have never broken a law, or killed a person.

  3. I'm glad to know that so many have so much disposable income in these tough times.

  4. Its is scaring the bejeezus out of the same people who think the Patriot Act is a great blessing upon the citizens and the NDAA is a gift from God. It took about 25 YEARS of oppression from the British to spark the FIRST American revolution. But it eventually was sparked. And it WILL happen again -- that is an historical inevitability. You can be prepared or you can be a victim or prisoner.

Keep thinking that as they kick in your door. (like they already have in New Orleans maybe?)
