6 Schools Selected As 2013 Maryland Blue Ribbon Schools

Six Maryland public schools on Thursday were selected as 2013 Maryland Blue Ribbon Schools.

The schools with the honors include:
 
  • Chadwick Elementary School, Baltimore County
  • Charlesmont Elementary School, Baltimore County
  • Folly Quarter Middle School, Howard County
  • Robert Frost Middle School, Montgomery County
  • Century High School, Carroll County
  • Boonsboro High School, Washington County
The schools are recognized on the basis of rigorous state and national requirements for high achievement and dramatic improvement. The students in each of these schools perform at the top 15 percent on state assessments in reading and mathematics.

  1. Wow - they must have real expensive buildings to get an award like that. That's why we need to rebuild all of Wicomico County schools, to improve the education of our kids.

  2. More public school BS. It's Blue Ribbon Schools of Excellence INC. Get it? Incorporated-It's a for profit business that charges for this supposed wonderful distinction.


    Cost copied directly from the Blue Ribbon site: Additionally the company charges $1500/per "assessor" for "consulting expenses." This money (and all the other wasteful spending) needs to be spent on school security and not some for profit company who lobby politicians, and the politicians push this BS so they can brag about having a "blue ribbon" school which in reality means absolutely nothing.
