  • Vehicle #1: 1997 Nissan Maxima
Resume:
Felton, DE- The Delaware State Police is investigating a crash in which a car struck a house.
The incident occurred this morning around 11:11 a.m., as Carlot Stinvil was operating a 1997 Nissan Maxima northbound on South DuPont Highway (US13) just north of Barney Jenkins Road.  The Nissan first exited the roadway at 7571 South DuPont Highway, striking a mailbox before driving into a ditch.  The vehicle continued northbound across two private driveways before crashing through a wooden fence post located at 7517 South DuPont Highway.  The Maxima continued across the front lawn, striking the corner of the deck at that residence.  As the car continued through the yard, it struck a dirt berm which caused it to become airborne and drive across the back of a 1995 Lexis parked in the driveway.  The Nissan finally came to a stop after it crashed into the house located at 7497 South DuPont Highway.
At the time of the crash, the house was occupied by three adults.  A 55 year old female was transported to Kent General Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  A male and female adult were uninjured.
Carlot Stinvil was removed from the scene by EMS and transported to KGH with non-life-threatening injuries.  He was cited by Troopers for Inattentive Driving, Driving Without a Valid License, and No Proof of Insurance.
Kent County Code Enforcement inspected the residence and condemned it due to the structural damage.
US13 northbound was closed at Barney Jenkins Road for approximately an hour and a half as the crash was investigated and cleared.

  1. I am glad no one was seriously injured. I know what its like to get hit by someone with no insurance. It sucks. I just hope whoever owns the trailer and Lexus has insurance and will cover the damage. What a shame...and they will still be out their deductibles anyway.

  2. Between that car and the house I'll bet there's about a thousand dollars worth of damage.
