  2. Are these graves not buried 6 ft or 8 ft down? I am really confused and quite frankly spooked out by this. I always thought that the vault is buried 8 ft down and the coffin is placed in the vault? This is a terrible site and I feel terrible for their families. So sad.

  3. anonymous 1:34, remember now, Crisfield wells for water are very shallow. The water table level is probably less than 4 feet into the ground. The graves are not deep at all, hence the concrete slabs holding down the coffins.

  5. Quite a few cemetaries in Somerset Co bury the dead with the tops of the vaults visable yes, due to the high water table.

  7. Crisfield is only 8 feet above sea level, so they can't bury people 8 feet deep. I don't think people realize water is the most powerful source known to man. It knows no boundaries.

  8. These areas have been flood prone forever, this is not a new occurrence for Crisfield, Deal Island, or Chicoteague. I'm not saying I don't feel bad for the families, but this is not the first time the graves have come up
