New Technologies Key To Postal Service Revitalization
From digitization of mail to GPS tracking, the Postal Service is investing in new technologies to help it grow revenue. Ellis Burgoyne, the agency's chief information officer, says his department is concentrating on five main projects in 2013 that will help the Postal Service cut costs while improving efficiency and customer service. USPS ended fiscal 2012 with $15.9 billion of debt.
That is why they removed the kiosk from the Salisbury Post office and that action alone quadrupled the work load on the individual postal workers. It really was a no-brainer from the customers perspective.
I agree - with the postal kiosk I used to be in and out of there in minutes. Weighted my package, then swiped my credit card and - vuala - stamps came out.
Next thing you know the postal service will abandon all their vehicles and change over to horse and buggies.
We look for the cure and it is right before your noses. The postal service needs to be run like a business. It needs to be profitable and if it takes firing nonproductive or people who are not needed , then do it. But this will never happen , we are country of feel sorry for these lazy individuals.
