How well I remember. I was in the Navy stationed in a squadron at NAS, Roosevelt Roads, Puerto Rico. We were ready for a quiet weekend, preparing for Thanksgiving on the base. The news came into our commuication department and soon spread throughout the base. It was 3pm and we secured at 1600. Not knowing who was responsible or if there was a threat of war, we were restricted to the base. I watched it all on TV, and even later saw Jack Ruby shoot Oswald. The Funeral of President Kennedy was the saddest thing I'd ever seen on TV. I can't believe it's been almost 50 years.
