Federal Workers Plead: Leave Us Out of Fiscal Cliff Deal

A public sector union alliance known as the Federal-Postal Coalition has written a letter to Congress pleading its case that federal workers are doing their ‘fair share’ and therefore, should be left out of any impending budget deficit deal.

The National Journal attained a copy of the federal workers’ letter and published part of it:

“Federal and postal employees and their families are hardworking, middle-class Americans who are struggling during these tough times just like other Americans,” the group wrote. “No other group has been asked to financially contribute the way they have, and it is time our nation’s leaders found other ways to reduce the deficit than continually taking from those who have dedicated their lives to public service.”

  1. The Wicomico County Board of Education has also written their letter to keep them out of the impending budget deficit deal.

My point - if you exempt out the federal postal workers, and then the Wicomico County Board of Education, and so on and so on . . .then what is the point in even having a balanced budget.

America is going down for count and fast.

  2. Government employees are already begging for mercy now that the free ride is almost over. It seems to be their mindset that they are special and shouldn't suffer the consequences of the incompetence of the mafia that they work for. It's going to get bad for everybody, but I have no sympathy for government employees. Wake up and face the same reality that the rest of us are facing. When the walls come tumbling down, you will find out you're not that special after all.

  4. These are the very people who voted to re-elect this fraud. If the innocent have to suffer for their stupidity, then they certainly should, as well.

  5. For years I tried to warn everyone of the consequences of runaway government spending.

I said it then and I'll say it again, when they - (government workers) - continue to increase taxes while the private sector virtually evaporates, they will have no one left to 'feed upon' but themselves. And that is exactly what is happening. They will end up taxing themselves into oblivion - and thus self destruct. The whole system is imploding as we speak.

  8. 5:09-True,but he sent mixed messages,"sounding as though" he could salvage their livelihoods. He said just enough to garner their votes, but not enough to establish an actual commitment. If one would review his campaign tactics he never actually promised federal employees anything.
