Supporters Crowd Debate Watch Parties

Republicans and Democrats met separately Wednesday night in Frederick to watch the long-awaited first presidential debate, casting President Barack Obama as "the better candidate" and challenger Mitt Romney as the right man "to create jobs and maintain jobs" in a poor economy.

Nearly two dozen Democrats showed up to support the president at Cafe 611 on North Market Street, where the crowd initially watched the debate in silence.

Then one attendee shouted "He looks nervous!" as Romney, the Republican nominee, made his way onto the stage Wednesday night.

Meanwhile, close to 50 showed up at the Republican watch party at Jekyll & Hyde Restaurant and Tavern.

  1. In such a liberal state how can the Republicans have more at their event than the Democrats?

  2. It because 47% don't do debates. Then can tell you anything you want to know about 50 Cent and Lil Wayne but as for politics they are clueless.

  3. It's just because this year, there's no frenzy to get a "black" president into office for the first time. This year, there's a lot of "buyer's remorse".

  4. Democrats don't sweat the details! They are just about controlling your life. Republicans, on the other hand, are here to watch out for your personal interests.

One is more popular than the other.
