FORT COLLINS, Colo. (CBS4) – Early voting only got under way on Monday and already a complaint has been filed.
Colorado Republicans say Democrats wrongly offered Colorado State University students free pizza and T-shirts in exchange for voting.
Colorado state law says campaigners have to be 100 feet from a polling place, but there is some grey area, particularly when a polling place is inside a large public building like CSU’s Lory Student Center.
No different than Obama saying he'll give everybody free cell phones if they keep voting for him. or his O'bama money
ReplyDeleteIt's all about what is for free. I'm not going to elaborate but I did some work for an organization involved with low income children. The only way we could get parents/guardians to any of our programs was if we offered something for free. It made my job so much harder because I felt like I was spending valuable time hitting up corporations for free things.
ReplyDeleteIf they are doing at a polling place, that is "buying" Obama votes and HIGHLY illegal. Advertising for such a giveaway that mentions one party only is, too.
ReplyDeleteThis looks like to me another 1/2 story.
ReplyDeleteWhat did the T-Shirts look like?
Did they say something like "I Voted" or what?
From reading the article, I understand that they were trying to get the students to vote, not telling them who to vote for.
Somtimes you have to offer some sort of incentive to get students to realize the importance of voting. I know it shouldn't be that way but anymore the political world has gotten to where a lot of people (ages of their parents) have gotten so tired of all the infighting and disagreements that they don't encourage their kids to vote because they no longer vote themselves.
I'm saying without ALL of the information, it's not right to "assume" they did anything wrong especially accusing them of "buying" votes and saying what they did was illegal.
Look, the Republican party has tried VERY hard to supress voting all over the country.
I'd say if people are trying to get people to vote, that would be a good thing, if it's not done illegally.
Again, full information disclosure is needed to make the call on this one, instead of some of you just automatically going off because you hate the sitting President so much.
