Extreme athlete Felix Baumgartner lands safely in the New Mexico desert minutes after jumping from capsule 24 miles above Earth — breaking the sound barrier along the way, officials say.

  1. Wondering why this hasnt recived any comments. I think its amazing that this was done. Guess I think from the old school where you dream big and achive your goals. Just think if they had this technology prior to the space shuttle disaster and there was time they could have jumped and might be alive today.

  2. Ok I take part of my last comment back. I realize jumping off a platform is a little different than jumping out of a space shuttle already moving at a high rate of speed. But it does open the door to research.

  3. Can you imagine the sound barrier booming around your head? I think this guy is a bit of a nut job, but it does make for cool news.
