Gov. Martin O’Malley, College Student Leaders Talk Education Affordability

Gov. Martin O’Malley hosted student leaders Thursday during an informal discussion on higher education, the cost of which has risen.
Student government presidents and members of the University System of Maryland Student Council met with the governor to talk about tuition and the importance of investing in higher education to build Maryland's highly-skilled workforce and prepare students for the jobs of tomorrow.
In August, two student leaders wrote a letter to the governor on the importance of keeping college affordable. The governor told the students that tuition at Maryland's in-state four-year colleges and universities had decreased from the eighth highest to the 27th highest in the nation.
