  3. If the teacher has a contract the only reason a strike should happen is because the rights of the contract are being violated. If a teacher is unhappy with the contract it should never have been signed.

  4. I don't think it would make a big difference if they strike.
Let's face it , I could teach school and be glad to do it.
Many other people could do the same. Give me the book and some chaulk.
Where in the hell can a teacher get a job other than teaching?
No one wants an x-teacher , they know nothing at all , most are good at reading.

  5. get rid of the unions. they're leaches and not needed. the teachers don't work in sweat shops and they're not beaten if they don't make a quota. this way we can rid ourselves of teachers who are not qualified or really aren't doing a good job and get on with really doing a much better job in educating our children.

Maybe you shouldn't be an English teacher.

  10. I have a few friends that are teachers. Yes they admit that their jobs can be stressful, so can mine, but all of the people I know that are teachers also say the same things. They they are paid a decent wage, more than I do, and they also get the summers off, which I do not. I am not making light of the job a GOOD teacher does. It is an important position, but I do agree that the union is what is ruining our schools. If my performance at work is lackluster i get fired. It should work the same way. Tenure???? HA! No one in the real world has tenure. Bottom line: FIRE THE BAD TEACHERS!

  11. @11:56...You couldn't make it 1 day in a classroom..the kids would eat you up and spit you out.I am a teacher who just relocated. You'd be surprIsed how many employers want to hire teachers.I've had 4 job offers in a month because of my teaching experience.Watch out--they just might offer me your job too!!!!

  12. It's too funny how many people think teaching is a walk in the park. Stress? You don't know the word stress. Keeping children who have no manners or who have no reason to behave anymore since disciplining consists of having days off of school. Parents complain sooooo much yet do sooooo little to help the situation. School is not daycare.

  13. Then don't teach. If it's that bad and the money doesn't make up for it GO FIND SOMETHING ELSE. Don't take a job and then complain about the job and responsibilities YOU signed up for. If you didn't know what the job entailed prior to taking it then perhaps you are the one that needs to go BACK TO SCHOOL.

  14. The difference b/w teaching and being a Correctional Officer in a Prison is the large fence and gun towers.
I do believe they should make more money b/c they teach our kids but some use the system and not apply themselves as a teacher to teach our kids; get rid of the unions!

  15. If they are striking then they don't need the job. If they are striking they can not be paid their salary, am I correct in this thinking?
