Taxpayers spent $1.4 billion dollars on everything from staffing, housing, flying and entertaining President Obama and his family last year, according to the author of a new book on taxpayer-funded presidential perks.
In comparison, British taxpayers spent just $57.8 million on the royal family.
Author Robert Keith Gray writes in “Presidential Perks Gone Royal ” that Obama isn’t the only president to have taken advantage of the expensive trappings of his office. But the amount of money spent on the first family, he argues, has risen tremendously under the Obama administration and needs to be reined in.
Gray told The Daily Caller that the $1.4 billion spent on the Obama family last year is the “total cost of the presidency,” factoring the cost of the “biggest staff in history at the highest wages ever,” a 50 percent increase in the numbers of appointed czars and an Air Force One “running with the frequency of a scheduled air line.”
i'm thinking of a "term" used for this type of behavior, but it's crude and i just can't write it.
ReplyDeletei will say this may explain obama's behavior during his term as president and her term as first lady. live as though there's no tomorrow. eat, drink and be merry for tomorrow may never come.
well tomorrow has been here for many of us for many months. untold suffering, loss of jobs, wages, equity, homes, savings, retirement income, cars and other durable goods, a good future for our children and grandchildren has been lost for now, higher education, time off (vacations), a little down time with some peace of mind, a feeling of security, many of our cherished freedoms and way of life because he has trampled our constitution, etc. there's more but i think you get the picture.
please don't give me the line that george bush did this. it simply won't hold water.
my only saving grace is my belief in the Lord Jesus Christ. my faith in Him and not man and the hope of a better day, because He always gives us hope. His promises are solid and true.
please vote for republicans in november. we truly need a better tomorrow for all.
And he's got at least till January to rip us off more. When he looses in November he will spend. Mark my word.
ReplyDeleteThey are drunk with power and crave more. All at our expense. Typical of your run of the mill knee jerk liberal - do as I say not as I do.
ReplyDeleteWhen our country is being ridiculed and castigated around the world, citizens are losing their homes at the rate of a million per year, and MILLIONS of Americans can't find a job and/or are skipping meals and working part time, HE and his family party like its 1999 (sorry, Prince). Show some concern. Some empathy. Some fiscal restraint. Set an example. Instaed they jet around the world, taking extended family with them, to EVERY hot spot on the globe. And I'm not talking about Syria, Pakistan, or Israel. And we did, of course, BORROW all the money he is spending (like he hit the lottery, which, in an obama sort of way, he did).
ReplyDeleteWow, here come the rabid ones again! Wake up people!
ReplyDeleteCONGRESS passes budgets with these things included in them.
It's not like the President (no matter who it is) can just spend taxpayer dollars on a whim!
You read a headline and run with it!
Try using some common sense before making such uneducated remarks!
