Cal Rikpen Jr. has been honored with a bronze statue outside Oriole Park at Camden Yards.
In a ceremony outside the ballpark before Thursday's game against the New York Yankees,
Ripken joins other Oriole legends including Earl Weaver, Jim Palmer and Eddie Murray.
The O's and the Nats are having the best seasons in decades and the times hardly mentions anything about them! Even after what could possibly be the best game of the O's season last night, nothing! Joe, I know you're a New Yorker and are probably a Yankees fan, but maybe you could cover some of our local professional baseball success
ReplyDeleteFrank Robinson was the first to have his bronze statue uncovered in the picnic area at Cambden Yards,Brooks Robinson will be the final one uncovered this year on September 29th.The surprising Orioles turned in a stellar performance in beating the Bronx Bombers 10-6 in front of 46,000 plus fans. It was great to be there to watch the team play so well and place themselves in a tie for first place in the American League East, reminded me of the days when Cal was a player.
