The World Is On The Brink Of A Major Food Crisis

For the first time in recent history, humanitarian organizations are responding to three major food crises – one in West Africa, one in East Africa, and one in Yemen. Accelerating climate change and dwindling resources have created several severe food shortages – adding 43 million more people around the world to the ranks of those who will go hungry this year alone. As Barbara Stocking, the chief executive with OxFam Great Britain, warned, "without urgent action, things will only get worse, and multiple major crises could quickly move from being an exception to being the norm." If the United States doesn't take the lead in using resources and energy more responsibly soon, then the rest of the world is going to descend into chaos, and we as a nation will go down with them.

  1. And in the US a restaurant can't even give leftover food to a soup kitchen without fear of being sued by those who eventually eat it.We could be less wasteful as a nation.

  3. This is a complete fabrication. The only thing that the 3rd world(like Africa) need is modern farming techniques. Look at the improvement in land efficiency over the past century in America. Now look at the farming techniques of the 3rd world. They are outdated and inefficient.

  4. I don't want to read this crap when the government pays farmers "NOT TO GROW".
The U.S. needs to take care of their own , not the world , the rest of the world hates us anyway.

  8. How would you propose to send the "scrap" food from cruise ships--which the cruise lines have policies that the crew can't eat the leftovers--to the third world? Freeze it in freezers that don't exist on cruise ships to hold left over food.

Please people... Give a man bread and he does nothing.. give a man a seed and make him a farmer so he doesn't need a hand out

    Entitlement breeds entitlement...

  9. Part of this is caused by Monsanto and their genetically engineered seeds that produce plants which have sterile seeds. Farmers cannot save the seeds to replant. It's caused alot of problems in India.
