Obama Camp To Romney: Release Five Years Of Returns And We'll Stop

Mitt Romney addressed the seemingly never-ending issue of his tax returns Thursday, saying that for the past 10 years, he never paid less than 13 percent of his income in taxes. The response from many Democrats? We'll believe it when we see it.
But in a letter to Romney campaign manager Matt Rhoades dated Aug. 17, Obama campaign manager Jim Messina wrote that if Mr. Romney issues three additional returns — having already released his 2010 returns and an estimate for 2011 — the campaign would cease fire on the issue dogging the former Massachusetts governor.
"Governor Romney apparently fears that the more he offers, the more our campaign will demand that he provide," Mr. Messina wrote. "So I am prepared to provide assurances on just that point: if the Governor will release five years of returns, I commit in turn that we will not criticize him for not releasing more — neither in ads nor in other public communications or commentary for the rest of the campaign."

  1. I hope Romney will counter fast and furious. Show us a real birth certificate and I'll stop criticizing you for being the worst U.S leader in my lifetime.

  3. Isn't the president blackmailing Romney with this threat? I for one would love to see the real birth certificate, and college transcripts from O'bama. For all we know, he isn't a citizen but a plant to destroy our country and we sit by and let him do it.

  4. Oh, to add, no, you are NOT going to stop, you are Democrats, remember? Idiots to even say something so stupid! Do you really expect Romney to believe you! HA! You will keep up with your stupidcrap till the election. Too bad we do not have Ron Paul to blow you away this time. I'm writing in for him anyway, though.

  6. The heck with the birth certificate. Certified college transcripts would be more revealing ...

  7. And if Romney does release his tax returns, how will we know that they haven't been Photo Shopped? I'm sure someone will be able to find an "expert" that says they are.

That really was a stupid statement. After all Obama Im sure has already seen ever tax return Romney has ever filed. If a photoshopped version came out Obama would have billboards in ever state.

  10. I don't think Romney should released ANY tax returns until Obama releases his school records.

  11. Obammy, why don't you just shut up and show us SOMETHING?!

I mean besides the worse debt this country has seen. Or executive orders bypassing Congress. Or killing civilians (can't be proven yet) who have evidence on you or you just don't like. I can think of two people you have had killed, even if I can't prove it, I believe it.

Show us your hand over your heart when the anthem is played. Show us prosecution of Black Panthers. And Eric Holder.

You got nothing Obammy. Shut up and go back to Chitcago. They need you there.

  12. In a similar vein; he should offer to match him:

    1) Go to registrar of births in state of birth and sign authorization for release of his long form Cert of Birth in front of press.

    2) After BHO matches #1, proceed to have his college and grad school transcripts released.

    3) Finally release all tax returns from years he was in public office; for Romney - Governor of Massachusetts; BHO was in Illinois legislature, US Senate and current role.

    Should make for interesting comparisons!

Don't hold your breath waiting for BHO to play the match game.

  13. Yeah, Mitt, show us five years and we'll stop. Really. No, I mean it! The rest of the campaign will be nothing but friends and daisies! Really. We really mean it! just happy go lucky skipping down the road cheeriness. For sure.

    Your bestest friend,
    Jim Messina

  14. It is blackmail but when that's all you have to base a campaign on that's what you do. It's not like obama has any accomplishements to tout.
We already know Romney is a very very wealthy man. The only reason the obamanista's want these made public is so they can attempt to divide us voters. They want to be able to wave around the returns and say something along the lines of Romney being "out of touch" with most people.
Now what about the economy, jobs, deficit, obama!

  15. SO the economy is in the tank. We're losing soldiers in Afganistan to allied afgan police, gas is headed back to $4.00 a gallon. Eric holder is selling guns to mexican drug cartels. Our taxes are going up at the end of the year because the "tax cuts" will expire, and Obama the moron is worried about Romneys old tax returns? Really?
