A 5.8-magnitude earthquake rocked D.C.one year ago Thursday, and today there are still signs of damage at local landmarks, including the National Cathedral.
Pinnacles on the scaffolding of the cathedral's towers are being repaired, and two of them sit inside black fencing in front of the church. A number of flying buttresses and a gargoyle also were damaged.
The cathedral has launched a fundraising campaign called "Restore the Glory! " It hopes to raise $100,000 to continue restoration and help fund programming.
