like other counties and states, this should be renamed the wicomico county fair. bring in kiddie rides. lots of vendors. really make it an attractive part of the summer. kind of an end of the summer thing. i lived in montgomery county for 12 years. the county fair was looked forward to as one of the biggest events of the year. rides, carnival games, livestock, competitions for the animals and cooking. greased pig contests, really good entertainment, and a fireworks show. i've attended the wicomico county farm and home show numerous times, as recent as last year. it's a waste of time. unless you want to see hogs, and competitions for best baseball card collection, or biggest pumpkin. theres nothing else to do. the people who had booths were basically just sitting in one booth talking since i was about the only one there on that saturday. it's a good cause gone to waste.
While other county fairs are big exciting events they also have the support of their county. However, Wicomico County does not support the Farm & Home Show in any way, shape or form. The event is entirely community supported and funded. They do the best they can with what they have to work with.
It is time for Wicomico County's elected officials to start helping this hard working group of people. Just look around at what other counties in our state do, and compare what this high taxed Wicomico County does NOT do for it's citizens.
To the person trying to say they can't afford the admission fees, THERE IS NO ADMISSION FEES. IT'S FREE.
