Right where it stands now. With that being said I also think corporate giants like Walmart should either pay a living wage to all employees or all government subsities should cease. Walmart for example has received over a billion dollars (and continues to receive) in govenment subsidies. This includes such things as free or reduced-priced government owned land, job training funds, sales tax rebates, tax credits and infrastructure assistance and freebies.
I said $10/hr 26 years ago - $17/hr according to Harvard Business- last year ... Min wage has less buying power than in the 80's - YES cost of living!! Close our borders, end out sourcing & a 500% tariff on Chinese imports - & see what happens
151pm is correct. people should be paid for what they do. if you raise the minimum, prices go up. there is no such thing as minimum wage helping anything.

I agree to a point but what about the companies who are receiving billions in "corporate welfare?" There is also the problem (such as in the case of Walmart) where an overwhelming number of their employees receive some gov't entitlement whether it be Medicaid, rent assistance, free lunch program, food stamps, etc. We the tax payers are footing that bill. It's complicated because then on the other hand you have a Mom and Pop operation who would love to hire a high school kid to help out but wouldn't be able to afford not only a higher minimum wage but the other extras such as unemployment insurance and workman's comp.
I pay people for what they are worth, and expect those results. If I wanted $5 employees to serve my customers, my business would fail. I pay $15 to $20 and ezpect professionality. When it doesn't happen, you're fired.
doesn't matter, they will make it or find a way to make it not worth any amount...
ReplyDeletenotice how min wage never rises for the cost of living until things get bad as they are...
then when they do that, times and taxes raise to whats the point its a fuking circle of getting screwed...

ReplyDelete$10 then increased annually at the same pace as SS.

ReplyDeleteits what the job is worht and what people will work for
what the business can afford to pay, and keep itself staffed and running. or in other words, no minimum wage.
ReplyDeleteAt 10 an hour, you wont be able to control the border!
ReplyDeleteI don't think there should be a minimum wage. Let the free market and competition for labor determine the rate.
