A Letter To The Editor 7-11-12

IS THERE BLACKOUT ON SALISBURY CITY NEWS IN THE DAILY TIMES?

Now that the newspaper is published elsewhere, it is understandable that there was no coverage yesterday about the resolution that the City Council passed on Monday in response to the outrageous misststements that it has made in regard to certain members of the Council. However, there is no such excuse for the lack of mention of that action by Council in today’s article about the meeting.

The Daily Times appears to be engaging in partisan politics by strictly limiting the information its readers receive. Almost any statement by Jim Ireton is accorded front page coverage and prompt publication both in print and online, sometimes with editorial reiteration and support, but comments by members of Council, with certain exceptions, are often presented as soundbites taken out of context or grossly distorted in both news articles and editorials.

And what coverage has there been of the Albero campaign for mayor?

Mr. Bassett: what say you about this situation?

  1. This says it all, except the partisan part is crazy. Aren't all the council members and Ireton all Democrats? Also, they don't run by party in Salisbury, do they?

  2. This is nothing new for that so called newspaper - they have never given any local news unless it's very very slanted and just downright lies. Why people keep throwing their money away for that garbage is beyond me - or even read their garbage online because nothing they print is true, it has been proven over and over again.

  3. It's a guess, (which I'm correct more often than not) but I'd say the Mayor is trying to make anonymous comments, (rejected, of course) on this Post.

Good Morning Jim. This message will self distruct in 10 seconds. LOL

  4. Joe does not need the daily times. Real people read sby news.

  5. They figure if they don't mention the good ole slapdown they got everyone will forget quicker.

  6. 9:27 Real People read Sbynews but real voters may not. It is important to reach out to all options in order to connect with Salisbury voters to elect Joe Mayor. As popular as Sbynews is Joe knows he cannot be elected by Sbynews alone.

  8. If Ireton and his lap dog Mitchell had that many eligable voters sign the petition, it would be all over the Daily Disgrace.

The paper always supported Tighlman/Comegys/Dunn/Cathcart and Shields, and look what that got them.

They can continue to support Ireton/Dunn/Mitchell, the voters/citizens know better by now. Anyone they support is all the more reason to vote the other way, even if I'm voting for a chimp!

Ireton being gay is not why I no longer support this mayor. I voted for him knowing he was gay to start with in the last election.

Even though his friends Louise, JT and Dunn sent out mass e-mails thinking they had a revelation that nobody else knew about.

I know I have had people ask me about Louise's sexual perferences, don't care, don't need to know that to know she's a Louweasle.

  9. It must be a slow news day for WBOC they are out on "bug patrol" chasing beetles. No seriously they asked people to tell them where the big beetles are

  11. But when the newspaper prints anything it never mentions Joe..so how does that get his news out?

  12. So when Joe gets elected how will the DT function. I doubt he will give them any interview. I guess they will have to just make up stuff... oh wait they already do that now.

  13. Joe, you should put a paid advertisement in the Daily Times. They couldn't refuse that, could they?

  14. WBOC news at noon still regurgitating the petition. No word about the council meeting of course. It didn't taste good the first time, why would it taste good a second time? Maybe it is time to stop supporting their advertizers.
