  3. This is unfortunate. LE no longer respecting the law. Lead by example Sheriff Lewis.

  4. You have to be around in order to lead. From everything I've heard Sheriff Lewis is away teaching classes most of the time now.

  5. Breaking the law is all to common among law enforcement. There is no consequences to their actions. They just protect each other in most cases.

  6. They do it because they can get away with it. But what I've seen of parking enforcement since living down here is it's nonexistent. Fines from parking enforcement are the only type of traffic fines that stay entirely within the jurisdictions the local citations are written.

  8. Nothing new, cops abusing power feeling entitled.

  9. every picture, tells a story

this is just wrong in sooo many ways

need that tag #, time and date to report it to the MSP and county executive's office. wrong is wrong

we have camera's enforcing our speed limits, why not have citizens taking pictures of laws being broken that don't cost the taxpayers a dime

  10. idiots.
    Lead by idiots.
They twist ,distort, fabricate the law to "get" anyone they want, then do this.

  11. In all fairness, this looks like the front of the administration building at Wor-Wic.

They have a widely distorted ratio of visitor to handicapped spaces. They have about 4 visitor spaces and the remainder are painted as handicapped. The row that backs up to this is placarded for college employees.

The majority of visitors have to make a choice to use a handicapped space or to park a great distance away, on the other side of the campus.

The driver of this car did the rational thing; 3 empty slots are readily visible to the left of the car.

Our LEOs certainly grant themselves lots of extra slack, either individually or as a professional courtesy, but this is not one of those occasions.

    Just sayin'

  12. A pet peeve is the lazy clowns at grocery stores who think they are special. I have an idea for you Joe. Empower the fire depts to write fire lane tickets and give them half the money. And while you are at it, let them write handicapped tickets also.

  13. Don't just beat up on the sheriff... the city police do the same thing. Sit at the main post office for a few hours on a busy day. You will see that only about half of the handicappers are legal. Most of the offenders are using a permit issued to another person. Of course it is possible that some of these young, apparently spry and healthy people have a hidden defect....)

  14. Two things, I would consider this a courtesy not to park there, however emergency vehicles (which this is) is exempt from all parking restrictions (ie; meters, handicaped, fire zone). Second there is nothing illegal anyway. Maryland law requires there to be a pavement mark, which this spot has, as well as a handicaped sign with the base of it at least six foot from the ground. Clearly this spot does not have a sign. Criticize all you want, but don't say he is breaking the law becuase he is not. Those who don't know the laws should not speak before they are aware.

  15. I don't care how many handicapped spaces they have at WorWic, if I tried that I would be in a heap of trouble. Besides, it shows lack of morals on the part of the officer.

  16. Should have let the air out of all of his tires, just put a BB under the cap and thread it back on till you hear the air leaking out. This is not criminal, it is just a prank, so you don't really get in trouble for it, I have beaten it before. When he has 4 flat tires then call the media for a full tv report!

  17. Come on folks. Let them do their job. Obviously you don't have anything better to do. Let's be positive for a change...

  18. Does anybody know if he was responding to an emergency? Maybe someone was in danger and this was the closest spot...

maybe that is not the case, but before everyone gets all worked up again ask the questions that need to be asked.

  19. There are no lights on for an emergency, with all due respect.

    ReplyDelete
  20. Joe, you are smarter than that... Lights may have been turned off when parked. I am not saying that is reason he parked there, just asking what shoudl be asked before putting out like this...

  21. All you have to do is look at most of the Law Enforment officers today and see that most couldn't walk much less run very far cuz their all overweight! Being to stupid to stop eating is now reconized as a handicap, so you can get a card for parking closer to the fastfood door!

  22. 11:04 is clearly a LEO.

Sure for emergency use ONLY. No professional courtesy.

See what I mean about LEO's twisting/misinterpreting the law so they can break it or break citizen's??

    ReplyDelete
  23. @11:04

So if a regular person parked there it is still not breaking the law because the sign is on the assphault and there is no regular sign? Hilarious. Try selling that one to a cop the next time you get a ticket for parking in a handicap spot. They would laugh in your face. And then write you a ticket.

    ReplyDelete
  24. If it were an emergency I doubt he parks in a space at all...

    ReplyDelete
  25. If there is no sign, it is not a kegal handicap spot. The cop can write the ticket if he wants, but if you take the time to go to court, you will beat it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. 11:59 it would not be up to the cop to decide your fate. Many innocent people are charged daily, but the judge or jury clear them. Check the Maryland Annotated code, its in there, pavement mark and a sign for each spot.

  27. Yep! May very well be mantally challenged. Stop the second hand guessing.
Is that the Sheriff's car or a Deputy?

    *Mentally. WOW!

  29. Dosen't need signs on poles. Everybody knows what a handicapped parking space looks like. Just more hot air excuses. He screwed up and got cought. This is why the police don't want pictures or video's taken of them. Pictures worth a thousand words. I've also heard most cars speeding thru speed cameras are the police. Everybody knows dunkin doughnuts is open 24hr a day no need for speeding.

  30. The officer that parked in this space does so every day or in the firelane while going to class. I don't know his last name but his first name is jeremy. He bragged to me one time he issues the most tickets where he works out of everyone. I don't know why he can't park like the rest of us who have to walk all the way from the far parking lot.

  31. There is no violation. Period. The parking space is not a legal handicapped space. The space does not fit the COMAR regulation relating to a handicapped space. Now what there is, is a common sense violation. This is what we would call "appearance of impropriety". Even though there is no violation, it leads most of the citizenry to believe there is - and the citizens pay their salaries. Remember this. Law enforcement is an executive function of the government. And remember this. A document was written a long time ago that sparked a revolution. The Declaration of Independence. Let me draw your attention to this portion-"...Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed." A good police officer never forgets that. He works for the good, law abiding citizens. He is expected to hold himself to a higher standard. That means not parking in spots reserved for the handicapped even if they don't meet the legal standard. They are still located in a proximity that would allow easy access for the handicapped.

Are you ok? I'd hate to see what you would write if drugs were legal.

    ReplyDelete
  33. That would be Deputy Buchelle. Writes a lot of tickets but not the sharpest knife in the box. Clearly he knows the law and is taking advantage of his knowledge. It still doesn't look good. Maybe the sheriff should smack him a little or give him a older car as punishment.

  34. For several semesters one of Wor Wic's faculty would park in the handy cap spot and go teach her class. She was told face to face and by letters left on her car she was wrong and had no right to be there. Nothing worked and when the warning/tickets can't cause any problems if not paid then what is the use? Still doesn't make it right and glad to say it was them not me

  35. This guy is a cop, using our tax money to drive his police car off duty to go to school. I don't care if it is a violation because there is no sign or not. The spot is clearly for the handicapped. My sister is handicapped and goes to worwic. I don't want some cop, using his publically funded car and gas, to remove a parking spot clearly intended for the disabled while he sucks my tax money from my pocket! Is someone going to do something about this or what. When I voted for mike lewis I thought I was getting a better sheriffs office, apperently we got a worse one with this guy. You say this guy issues the most tickets in their department? Well. Is someone going to give this guy a ticket or what? Maybe he should get towed? Joe post this to the main page please!!

  36. This officer needs to get the fine and get 3 days off without pay and a formal reprimand to his file as a last warning, NOT to break the law or lose his job. Same with speeding, etc. Lewis is a turd. O, he never profiles. Never leaves the office. His men love him. NOT!! Monkey see, monkey do!

    ReplyDelete
  37. All his men hate lewis. He has several of his men in his click he takes care of because they kiss up to him, the rest of his men he ignores or treats like crap.
