An internal investigation is under way at a Roanoke Valley animal
shelter following complaints of neglect and financial improprieties.
Officials with the Regional Center for Animal Control and Protection and the
Roanoke Valley SPCA announced the investigation on Monday. Media outlets report that
the Roanoke municipal auditor's office and law enforcement officials also are
investigating the shelter.
