A Comment Worthy Of A Post 7-10-12
If the mayor's plan is so popular how come there weren't people at the meeting last night voicing their approval of it? There wasn't even one person. Both the public comment speakers at last nights meeting were great and made very valid points. These people are representative of the views of most residents. Everyone including those who like the mayor are very suspious of the parking lots surplus angle because everyone feels that angle should be a wait and see if we need the parking before doing anything rash such as selling them off. As far as the DT's-they are not worth anyone's time anymore. I've not read there since they pulled Debbie Campbell's letter months ago. Bassett and Co has no one to blame but themselves for their falling numbers. The people are alot more intelligent than Bassett could ever hope to be and will not be fooled for very long.
When did they pull a letter of Debbie Campbell's and what was it about?????

ReplyDeleteHere's a link 1:13. It was about the SBY PD and Walmart security for Black Friday shopping.
Joe's approach to downtown has already proven itself to be more mayorial than Ireton's. Allowing people to comment online, offer suggestions and critisisms is the exact way to get things accomplished. It's a way to get ideas and to see what gets people excited.
ReplyDeleteFirst plan of action is is the course of re-action...
ReplyDeleteI mean, you have to have a dialog about the subjects in order to find the best solutions...
I say re-action because when someone acts or says or thinks so outlandish stuff, you have to react and say wait a min here, lets think about this for a moment...
No one thinks it's a good idea to put no income section 8 housing in the middle of downtown. It will destroy the plaza as it has destroyed every other neighborhood like Pemberton, Boof screet, Fruitland Apt.
ReplyDeleteIt will make the plaza a crime magnet. Decent working people being preyed upon by the thieves, gangs, dealers and prostitutes.
Only a socialists logic could defend the idea.
Again... Dems/socialist pandering for votes and blowing tax money down the toilet.
Joe I hope you shake up the staff when you are elected. The Mayoral office needs to be flushed.
ReplyDeleteYeah the "affordable housing" really Section 8, aspect is just plain old nuts.
ReplyDeleteAn arts and entertainment and historic district surrounded by crack central is a brilliant idea-LOL!
Even more amazing is the dopes on the revitalization committee and even the Chamber lent their names to this. If these are supposed to be leaders in economic developement and revitalization efforts it's no wonder Salisbury has declined as it has.
I remember some years ago a idea simliar to Joes was brought up but debunked and the morons in charge proceeded with the CONDO boondoggle and subsequesnt failure. Joes idea combined with a waterfront cafe's like atmosphere would be a good draw. The commie ideas of more social welfare programs will not foster a vibrant popular properporus downtown. Ireton idea will bring additonal problems, taxes and waste. Bring back the Maryland lady, bull doze those friggin condos, nobody wants and bring in coffe houses cafes, bars, small shops, thats how that area will grow..build it damit and people will come...Build SEC 8 housing and thugs will come
ReplyDeleteReading this I have to ask:
ReplyDeleteWho are the insiders getting the benefits of this?
Maybe I'm just a synic (sp?) but Salisbury's history on development is all about sweetheart deals and that's how everything I'm reading sounds.
Is that what this is about or something else?
I haven't seen any details of the plan, so set me straight if I am wrong.
I saw his interview on Pac 14 on Tues evening. The interviewer could'nt get a word in edgewise.
ReplyDeleteNo one knows 9:40. That's the problem. Before surplusing the lots and just letting Larry Moe or Curly purchase them, either wait and see if they are needed for actual parking or if someone does want to purchase, make it contingent on council approval AFTER a presentation on the purchaser's plans and that the project is properly financed so it doesn't turn out to be another 1/2 completed eye sore.
