Are You Dead, Or Not
Finding out whether someone is alive or dead isn't all that easy. The Social Security Administration has been having trouble. The inspector general said the agency failed to record more than 1 million deaths in its master file. That means people resting in their graves may be earning benefits. The IG recorded nearly 700 cases in 2010 at a cost of nearly $18 million. That database was the linchpin for other agencies too. They used it to confirm that their benefit recipients were, in fact, alive and should receive a check.
I have known at least two families who did not report the death of a relative and continued to collect Social Security for many years. It's not hard to do if you understand how the system works. NO, I am not going to tell you how.
ReplyDeleteand they vote.
ReplyDeleteMy mother has voted in every election since she passed away in 2001. Absentee ballots are wonderful things. I can't wait until we go to online voting.
ReplyDeleteGeez, talk about voter fraud. Anon: 11:57-you should be ashamed of yourself for not reporting it. If you want to give those families YOUR money that's fine. Don't allow them to take mine. Anon: 12:27- you should be arrested!!!
ReplyDeleteWhy should I be arrested? It's not voter fraud because the Attorney General of the United States said voter fraud doesn't exist. Besides, I registered as a democrat and it's a right that democrats have. We all do it.
