SECRETARY NAPOLITANO’S DEFERRED ACTION PROCESS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

Statement from Governor Martin O’Malley on SECRETARY NAPOLITANO’S DEFERRED ACTION PROCESS FOR YOUNG PEOPLE

ANNAPOLIS, MD (June 15, 2012)
– Governor Martin O’Malley today released the following statement on U.S. Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano’s announcement of a deferred action process for young people who are low enforcement priorities:

“I am pleased that Secretary Napolitano has announced this very positive and important step for young people in our country who consider themselves Americans and deserve the opportunity to contribute to our country’s future without the fear of enforcement action. This is the only nation that many of these young people have known, and they’ve worked hard to succeed here.”

“I wholeheartedly support President Obama and Secretary Napolitano for taking this important action, which is a step in the right direction towards comprehensive immigration reform. I call on Maryland residents to build on this momentum by supporting our own DREAM Act to give our children a chance to gain the skills and education they need to compete and win in the future.”

  3. It now appears that Mr. Obama is "ruling" bt executive order. He has decided to "selectively" not enforce an aspect of US Law as passed and legally implemented by Congress.
Congress makes law and the executive branch is charged by the Constitution with enforcing the laws of the land.
What law will Mr. Obama decide not to enforce next?
If any sitting President does not like the particulars of a law then there are proper legislative processes to change or repeal the law. Is our republic now a monarchy?

  5. Please let me make this VERY clear:

The cost of an employee is minimum salary plus taxes.

One of the taxes is an unemployment tax.

Employers do not need to pay unemployment taxes if they hire foreign workers here on a Visa.

Employers do need to pay unemployment taxes if they hire Americans.

QED: It is cheaper for an employer to give a foreign worker a job over giving it to an American.

Great jobs program Obama has just created - for non Americans.
