This was the scene yesterday as I drove past Pittsville Elementary.

My guess would be they are out of room and needed more classroom space.

  2. Obviously... but is it a sudden population explosion? closing other schools? bussing change? anticipated or not? excess buildings from another school? so many new buildings gives rise to so many questions..

  5. These portables were moved from Northwestern Elementary to Pittsville Elementary as they prepare for their HVAC upgrade.

Students will be placed in these classrooms while the upgrades are being completed.

They are not permanent and will be removed once the upgrades are complete.

This is the same process that was done while the upgrades took place at Northwestern over the last 1.5 years.

  6. Obviously, Pittsville like Delmar suffers for not being schools that are located in Salisbury. The County school system doesn't give a rip about the outlying schools. This is why the Bennett schools are getting attention with Parkside's $35 million project to follow. Meanwhile, when is the last time Mardela, Delmar Elementary, Hebron, Pittsville, etc... was given anything of note other than trailers???

  7. uh, Hebron got a brand new school in '99. Pittsville is getting a renovation w/ AC for the old part of the building. Delmar got rid of 5th grade so there would be fewer classes in the portables (other than 'specials'). Mardela has one of the nicest schools in the county...it's not a palace, but its far nicer than parkside, wihi, wimiddle, bennett middle, etc. etc.

  8. The State of Maryland would rather WASTE money putting up guard rails in the RT. 13 median than INVEST into the schools!
What a joke Maryland has become!

  9. FYI West Salisbury Elementary is in Salisbury and has NO air condition. Delmar, Northwestern, both Westsides, Pittsville, and Willards have gotten way more upgrades than West Salisbury has. Stop whining and come send a day in our children's classrooms. Some days it is over 90 degrees even with three and four fans running. By the way the county does not provide the fans. The classroom teachers are having to purchase them out of their own money. So June 14, 2012 5:13 PM you need to stop making generalizations and check you facts!
