Navy Drone Crashes Off Maryland; No Injuries
A U.S. Navy drone flying out of Patuxent River Naval Air Station crashed Monday after operators lost contact with the aircraft, NBC News reported.
The BAMS-D (Broad Area Maritime Surveillance), an unmanned demonstrator aircraft that’s still in development, went down in a swampy area of nearby Bloodworth Island on Maryland’s Eastern Shore. The 44-foot aircraft was on a training flight when it went down.
There were no reported injuries on the ground and no damage to property. The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
The Coast Guard set up a safety zone around the marshy area along the Nanticoke River where the crash occurred, The Associated Press reported.

wait until one of these crashes into a home or a vehicle and hurts someone maybe then the people will have had enough of this foolishness!
ReplyDeletednr has set up zones in the bay to detect boats even at night. All the military programs and projects we have been using in afganistan and pakistan are now being brought home to be used against us. Under the guise of homeland security. You are being watched and monitored whether you want be to or not. Welcome to the future!
ReplyDeleteWatermen shot it down.
ReplyDeleteThe Government is not saying anything so as not to expose weakness.
How could watermen shoot down a 44 ft plane? Did they have a RPG? The government is keeping quiet so they can keep sending these drones up to spy in its citizens. There is no way this was a "training exercise".
ReplyDeleteIf some terroist orginazation were to come in the Bay and bomb the Bay Bridge or the Choptank River Bridge, those of you that seem to suffer from some kind of paranoia would be the first to say "where was the government, how could this happen?".
ReplyDeletefunny a multi million dollar drone shot down by one eastern shore waterman. The towelheads ought to take lessons!
ReplyDeleteJust suppose it was a training mission. What "rocket scientist" makes the decision to test these things over a very populated area? I've never heard they were tested here but I did know someone years ago in the Air Force and they tested alot over the NV desert out of Nellis AFB. So when did they start "testing" over one of the most populated areas in the US?

ReplyDeleteI guess as usual they dumped the fuel in the Chesapeake Bay
ReplyDeleteJoe, I know you don't like direct links in comments but look at this-

@10:58 you are one of the reasons that our government has so much power. You think it can protect us from anything....well it can't. Have ever seen the movie iRobot, the robots are "protecting" the individuals from themselves in the end just as the government does with us.

they operate/cruise at 60,000ft, that would have to be a looooong shot...
ReplyDelete@10:58 They are not up there looking for terrorist.
ReplyDelete11:16 - they're not towels...they're sheets....
ReplyDeletethe proper term is sheet-heads - and if you say it fast enough....
I love how they say no damage to property. 44 foot long aircraft that weighs 25,000 lbs. or so and can go as high as 11 miles prob. did some damage when it fell from the sky. WBOC reported a fire at the scene, guess fires cause no damage as well. Sounds like no harm, no foul and then it all goes away quickly and no one asks to many questions
ReplyDeleteI think it was training. The plane looked like it totally fell apart and burned. Maybe it was intended to go down to see if it would self destruct. If is wasa sure looks like mission accomplished
ReplyDeleteIt was looking for it's brother in Iran.
ReplyDeleteIf you aren't doing anything illegal you have nothing to worry about. When I was in Iraq and Afghanistan these UAV's are your best friend in the sky. They can fly over my house anytime they want. Give it a break about the military spying, who cares. If your doing things legally you shouldn't care. Tired of hearing people whine over crap. As soon as something happens though, then everyone cries why didn't the military protect us....
ReplyDeleteI don't trust the government and don't like the way they spy on it's citizens like the Chinese. Were supposed to watch the government not the other way around.
ReplyDelete2:20 is one ill-advised, poorly educated, narrow-minded, and dare I say, too stupid to call himself an American. You actually carried a gun with ammo, too? Is he an example of what have as troops now? First of all, you ain't in Afghanistan any more and there are no snipers hiding behind the big rocks in your apartment complex. No drones are locking in on your position. You are expecting an assualt from an Al-Queada team this week over in Moss Hill? We do NOT need military technology monitoring the citizenry. Further, and most importantly, try to see the bigger picture here. "...as long as you aren't doing anything wrong" is the STUPIDEST argumnent for allowing ANYTHING like warrantless searches, secret trials, constant "surveillance" and drones over our country. NO ONE has EVER cried "why didn't the military protect us"? You (the military) are not supposed to be "protecting us" in the USA ---its actually against the law in the U.S. We have the Bloods to protect and serve us. And a little history for you....6 million Jews "weren't doing anything wrong either, but their GOVERNMENT killed them anyway. Would all of you boot licking Nazi wanna-be's (and Nazi lovers) please STOP with the "if you aren't doing anything wrong, then you don't need constitutional rights" stuff. It's stupid, its old and its been proven wrong in dozens of countries. Stop saying it. Unless, of course, you end the sentence with "Heil Hitler!!" and "I believe the world is flat, too!!!"

ReplyDeleteI am definitely not ill advised or poorly educated. I guess I have a different point of view then you. I was only putting in my thoughts, but I guess we are not allowed to express our thoughts on the blog. Thanks for your input and thanks for the name calling.
Probably looking for people Rock Fishing with under size fish!

ReplyDeleteHe may have chosen wiser words but I agree with him on the 'if you're not doing anything wrong...' way of thinking.
Even if someone were doing something wrong, they still need probable cause to 'spy' on anyone.
How much more so if no one is doing anything wrong?
If it's a Navy drone then why does it say U.S. Air Force?
ReplyDelete@4:28 well this is not Afghanistan and we are not in a war. I do not know who has drilled that nonsense into your head but there is a little piece of paper called the Constitution. On that piece of paper there are rules that America is supposed to be governed by. Now I know in the military they probably do not teach you about civilian rights or even to give a crap, but I for one still believe in the Constitution. As a matter of fact, the whole reason America is here is because those in England thought they could treat citizens as they please....kind of like our government does now. At some point the people will get tired of it as they have in the past. Freedom of religous prosecution and no taxation without representation...two items that still ring true today. We are taxed uncontrollably and religion is starting to evaporate in America....at least for christians.
ReplyDeleteWhat is wrong with people? You do have rights. You should care. If you have no rights then you have nothing. The government is brainwashing us all to an extent. They are just trying to "protect" us. Funny thing how all this protection has earned them a ton of money.
