The Koch Brother-Funded ALEC Just Lost Walmart

Walmart – the world's largest retailer – is now the 19th organization to drop its ALEC membership following public outrage over ALEC-written "Shoot First" laws that have swept the country and are responsible for the death of Trayvon Martin in Florida. As the nation's biggest gun retailer – Walmart was instrumental in writing ALEC's "Shoot First" law – but is now fleeing the organization as more and more Americans wake up to the fact that corporations are writing our laws at annual ALEC conventions. From ALEC to Governor Rick Snyder's so-called "Financial Managers" in Michigan to corporate America's pledge to spend over a billion dollars in this election to elect Mitt Romney – are democracy has never been in more danger.

  1. Democracy is in MUCH greater peril with this fraud Obama in office.
He has had 3+ years to prove it.
I hope the public spanks him out of the White house in Nov.

  2. I don't believe that Travon Martin was any victim of being "shot first"

The evidence is coming out that he did not get shot first.

Travon attacked someone and got shot as a defensive measure during that attack.

  3. To Anonymous: Obama and gun worship aside, what benefit do you see for the average person in a country run by and for corporate interests?

  4. The point is this: ALEC is a group that does research for various industries and then introduces legislation that directly benefits the industry and/or other special interest groups. The legislation is already written and summarized. All the politicians have to do is vote YES and collect a check.

Google ALEC and check it out for yourselves. They are not the friends of Liberty imo.

  5. "are democracy has never been in more danger"

What kind of moron is this writer? Oh, yeah, the one who is "ARE" favorite speller! And it's nice he writes abour something called "ALEC" without writing out the acronym at least once. He should at least do that "OUR" quit writing his backward opinions!

Martin asked for a bullet and got one. Self defense is not a "shoot first" action.
