EPA Strengthens Pollution Standards

The Environmental Protection Agency is strengthening pollution standards and risking an election-year backlash. A lawsuit forced the agency's hand and it will announce its proposal later today. It would reduce the amount of soot that could be released into the air. A federal court ordered the EPA to act after 11 states sued. They said current standards are leading to lung and heart problems. EPA officials said most counties are already complying with the new standards and would not have to take further action. Environmentalists and public-health advocates are likely to cheer the rule, but lawmakers and industry may accuse the agency of stifling the economy

  2. 4:45. I guess the environment clean air clean water and wildlife along with human lives are unimportant to you. Corporations and businesses that had no controls would keep polluting until none of us could live on this planet.

  3. Uh why do they need to be shut down? Because they are one of the actual good government agnecies? Do you conservatives realize that we cause extreme damage to our planet without their help?

You wouldnt trash your house, so why would you trash your HOME(Earth)?

  4. these people are too extreme; they fudge numbers continually to get their way and constantly lie. why do we need this agency? don't talk to me about clean air and water.

let me see now; city of salisbury can't keep sewage out of the wicomico, etc. and on and on.

yes, i would like to see people take pride in their home and respective communities, but EPA is an agency we didn't vote in and they have more power than they deserve or can handle. unbrideled power. enough is enough. shut this agency down now...their killing us.

  5. The problem is that the EPA is nothing more than a pawn of big business. It's the big corporations that are actually dictating to the EPA what regulations they want in place all in attempt to out regulate the little guy. Since anti trust laws are in place this is the way around them.
It was created under the Nixon presidency.
    Don't be fooled.

  6. The EPA is in collusion with big business. Just read about the EPA, Westinghouse, Monsanto...If Farmer Brown down the road was doing what Monsanto gets away with the feds would be raiding and taking away his farm.
It's time everyone wakes up and realizes that most of these government (esp federal) agencies were created with some "angle" in mind and it has zero to do with us, the general public.

  7. EPA morphed into a personal rights taker over the years.

  8. EPA is in collusion with GE also. They are the ones who wanted Freon regulated so less repair people could work on refrigerators and air conditioners and people would just have to buy new ones.
Don't believe me then just look it up yourselves.
