Resume:
Georgetown, DE- The Delaware State Police have arrested a Maryland man after he led police on a short pursuit which ended in a crash with an SUV.

The incident occurred Sunday around 2:24 p.m. as a trooper on routine patrol in the area of Avenue of Honor running stationary radar, observed a vehicle traveling southbound on US 113 above the posted speed limit. The trooper pulled out and began to follow the vehicle with his emergency equipment activated, however, the operator failed to pull over and made a U-turn in a cross-over. He led the trooper on a pursuit northbound on US 113 turning right onto Avenue of Honor and eventually northbound on Patriots Way where he was passing vehicles in a no passing zone. As the vehicle approached the intersection of Zoar Road, it failed to stop at a stop sign. The Volkswagen was then struck on its rear driver’s side by a 1999 Chevrolet Blazer which was traveling eastbound on Zoar Road and was being operated by Phillip G. Williams, 55, of Lewes, DE.

The operator of the Volkswagen, later identified as Bryan A. Marschisin, 26, of Salisbury, MD, then fled on foot but was shortly apprehended by the trooper. He was then transported back to Troop 4 in Georgetown where he was arrested for Disregarding a Police Officer’s Signal, Leaving the Scene of Property Collision Accident, Reckless Driving, Failure to Have Insurance Identification in Possession, Driving With Expired License, Failure to Have Registration Card in Possession, Failure to Stop At a Stop Sign, Unsafe Passing on the Left, Speeding in Excess of 55 MPH on a 4 Lane or Divided Roadway, and Failure to Obey a Traffic Device. He was arraigned at JP3 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $2,850.00 secured bail.

There were no injuries as a result of the crash.
