Marylanders opposed to allowing gay and lesbian couples to marry say
they have collected more than half the signatures necessary to get the
measure on the ballot this fall.
The Maryland Marriage Alliance says it now has collected more than
30-thousand signatures of registered voters. The group needs to turn in
56-thousand signatures by the end of June to put the referendum on the
ballot.
Derek McCoy, Executive Director of the Maryland Marriage Alliance
tells WBAL Radio he is excited about the progress the group has been
making. And McCoy believes they will reach the required number of
signatures earlier than June.
