Officer Involved Shooting In Salisbury

Early this morning I received a call from a friend telling me that they had come home to Salisbury at around 3:00 AM. They were coming down Camden when they came upon a scene in which the road was closed but the area was light up like daylight, yet no one would tell them what was going on.

I finally found out what went down and it was very similar to what happened recently in Princess Anne.

It turns out a drunk driver had struck a couple of vehicles. The Police were called and when they caught up with the vehicle it turned into a high speed chase. Unfortunately TWO Salisbury Police Cruisers were totalled last night, yeah, like they need that, right.

Nevertheless, the drunk driver wrecked and refused to follow police commands and put the vehicle in reverse and attempted to get away. Feeling threatened Officers opened fire on the vehicle and struck the driver in the leg.

I did make attempts to contact the Police but never received a return phone call. In the mean time we got the information, (as usual) without the help of local authorities. No Officers were injured, so we're told.

  1. Very close. You have good inside sources. The driver tried to run over two officers as they approached the vehicle after it wrecked following a pursuit. Two SPD cars were wrecked after being rammed by the suspect vehicle. MSP did an independent investigation and witnesses stated that the suspect vehicle accelerated toward the officers. The MSP investigators have determined that the shooting was justified. The suspect is lucky to be alive. The taxpayers? Not so lucky. Now we'll pay for his defense and his meals for the next 10 years. Kudos to SPD for getting this dirtbag off the streets. I know the vehicle was moving when you guys shot but please try to hit the "10 ring" next time.

  2. I was up last night letting our puppy out to potty when I heard this come across the scanner. They toned it out as a shooting with SPD on scene. I then heard them call for lighting from the FD. They said it was at Dogwood and Camden. I knew something was up because they were out there for a while.

  4. I knew this would happen sooner or later. Hard to imagine they get paid so little to put their lives on the line. I understand they knew what the job paid when they took it but everything has gone up in price so much. They haven't had raises in years. Money has been squandered and wasted yet these guys and gals go out patrolling in cars that have failing equipment. This mayor has failed the police department and subsequently the safety of the citizens.

  5. Look out community. Rev's Jessie and Al will be in town next week because the guy was not armed.

  7. It doesn't matter what color your skin is, what religion or sex you are. If you try to kill a police officer they will respond accordingly and it may very well cost you your life. Don't get me wrong. I know some of them act inappropriately at times but most of them are good people who care about their communities. They have an incredible responsibility. If you put your hands on them, they will take the appropriate action.

  8. he was armed....with a 5000 lb. weapon that at 25 mph has more kinetic energy than a .45 cal handgun.

  13. Maybe some of the community block grant money can go towards helping out the police instead of the dog park!
