If you are in Royal Farms you can only go west bound, period. If you're heading east you will be detoured to Stanton Ave.
Two vehicles crashed into this tractor trailer. The tractor Trailer was crossing Rt. 50 to head east bound from Royal Farms and crossed right in front of oncoming traffic.
Expect delays for at least another 2 hours due to DOT reconstruction.
Everyone is clearing the scene & roads are reopening.
How many lives will this intersection claim before a light is placed here? It's a relatively new intersection - with Royal Farms being a large reason for all of the problems (not directly their fault). It's a huge intersection. The state really needs to address the issue now before more lives are lost.
ReplyDeleteDamn it.Blame the road.I bet the truck driver was at fault and the cars were also traveling at a high rate of speed.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, that intersection is a death trap. Speed of course is always a factor, but trying to make a left turn off of White Lowe to head east on 50 is a nightmare. They need to put a light there ASAP!
ReplyDeleteThe intersection by Wright's Market/Lighthouse Daycare is also a bad one. Lots of accidents there too.
ReplyDeletethats a nice looking nissan !
ReplyDeleteits only a dangerous intersection because people dont take the time to look and are impatient. there's nothing, absolutely NOTHING blocking anyone's view in either direction from either side. would a light be beneficial there? yeah. a light would be beneficial at any intersection. perhaps we should put crossing guards there too so people don't have to think for themselves whether its safe to cross or not. good lord.
ReplyDeletesame thing with the intersection of sixty foot road & rt 50 in pittsville. Take your time people. its better to be somewhere a few minutes late than not get there at all.
i dont think a light will be allowed there
ReplyDeletebut you may get what they did in hebron
right turn only when entering route 50 from that road
Nice looking silver Nissan
ReplyDeleteThey will not put a light here because there is the bypass traffic that meets with route 50 prior to this intersection. SHA does not want to back up traffic on the bypass.
ReplyDeleteJust what Salisbury needs, more traffic lights. Make it right turn only and call it a day.
ReplyDeletethe girl in that nissan is hot !
ReplyDeleteI see people all the time play chicken with trucks like that.
ReplyDeleteIt's a really bad intersection! I live on White Lowe Road, and usually take log cabin road to get around because no one seems to know who has the right away, and cars constantly ignore the stop sign at Royal Farms and pull out in front of you assuming you are turning into royal farms and not going straight ahead.
ReplyDeleteCalls to the Sheriffs office and State Police go ignored. I guess they are busy harassing motorist on 50 for the revenue enhancement!
Its a bad intersection and the traffic flow was poorly planned for this store. I voiced my concern before this was build, but of course, this was also ignored! I admit it is convenient to have this just down my road, but the hassle of the added traffic and accidents on my road, really isn't worth the convenience!

ReplyDeleteThese people were not playing chicken with the truck. The truck was playing I am bigger than so you better stop. The traffic coming off of the bypass is going a minimum of 65 mph, yes it drops to 55 but many don't slow right of way. Not mention it was raining at the time. I am pretty sure the the truck driver seen his opening in the east bound lane and thought he could make it. He was probably an out of town OTR driver not familiar with the bypass traffic heading toward him at 65+ mph...
Ive seen a number of times trucks going across a road and cars come up on it and I never see a brake light and the car just makes it past so if the truck hesitated the car would hit it.
ReplyDeleteThey need a speed camera on the westbound side comming off the bypass...that will slow them down. Hey, it works for the school zones !!!
