ANTHONY WATERS SENTENCED TO LIFE WITHOUT THE POSSIBILITY OF PAROLE PLUS THIRTY YEARS

On May 24, 2012, the Wicomico County Circuit Court sentenced Anthony Waters, age 28, of Salisbury, Maryland, to the Division of Corrections for life without the possibility of parole for the First Degree Premeditated Murder of Veshawn Bratten that occurred on July 31, 2011, on Patrick Avenue in Salisbury, Maryland. The Court also sentenced Waters to an additional thirty (30) years incarceration, consecutive to his life sentence, for Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery and other handgun offenses which carry mandatory/minimum sentences.

Waters was convicted after a three day jury trial that began on March 19, 2012 and concluded on March 21, 2012. The jury found Waters guilty of 1st Degree Premeditated Murder, Conspiracy to Commit Armed Robbery, 1st Degree Assault, Use of a Handgun in the Commission of a Crime of Violence, and Possession of a Handgun by a Prohibited Person.

Waters was sentenced to the Department of Corrections for an additional twenty one (21) years, consecutive to the sentence he received for the murder of Veshawn Bratten, for violating his probation. (Walls was on probation for an armed robbery and drug conviction that he received in 2004).

Wicomico County State’s Attorney Matthew A. Maciarello commended the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit and the Wicomico Bureau of Investigation (W.B.I.) for their work in the investigation and prosecution of this case. This case was prosecuted by State’s Attorney Matt Maciarello and Deputy State’s Attorney Ella M. Disharoon.
