WOC PETS TRAPPED, KILLED
Cat owners say their family pets were unnecessarily euthanized by Animal Control
A number of West Ocean City residents reported Wednesday that local pet cats had been trapped recently and unnecessarily euthanized by Worcester County Animal Control.
Leslie Dow, a resident of Waterview Drive in West Ocean City, said a relative newcomer to the neighborhood had requested that Animal Control trap cats after complaining about them being on his property.
“My cat jumped off the balcony March 20,” Dow said Wednesday, “that was the last time I saw him.”

This story makes me sick to my stomach!!!! To think they put the cats down Before the allotted time & these people made every effort to find their pets is heart-breaking. It should have never ever happened. Someone is Not doing their jobs properly-----just like what has happened at our HS here in Salisbury, before new management took over.
ReplyDeleteI hope the owners of these cats "go after" who is to blame. I understand these owners they have the "means" to do so too!!!! It should never have happened & the neighborhood & others should be out-raged!
EW
They should spay them nip the tip if the left ear to show they've been spayed and return them where they found them.they do that in wake county n.c..
ReplyDeletePeople, keep your animals inside or on a leash. They come on my property, there will be penalties.
ReplyDeleteEW, this same thing has been happening in Wicomico County for years, and not just to cats.
ReplyDeleteI do feel that people should be given the appropriate amount of time to claim their pets, pay their fines and take their animals home.
However, for the past 8 years that I have lived in my home the neighborhood cats have been spraying our porch, flower beds, trees, shrubs, cars and all personal belongings in and around these areas. Furthermore, the nasty buggers use our carport (with a rock/dirt floor) as their litter box. To add to my argument, I own 2 dogs that remain solely in my own yard (courtesy of a 6 foot privacy fence) and use only our property to relieve themselves. We've waged a war against the cats in this town. The cats in our area have caused us to have to remove all of the shrub and bushes from the front of our home (not a cheap process, by the way).
There also has to be some responsibility on the pet owner as well. Cats are pests. They kill birds and small animals. They urinate and deficate where ever they please. Dog owners have to abide by leash laws. Cat owners should be subjected to the same kinds of restrictions.
Dog owners abiding by leash laws? Really?
ReplyDeleteRather interesting that the above comments come from "ANONYMOUS" people. These animals lived in my neighborhood and had never caused a problem. The issue here is that a "newcomer" moved in and didnt like ANY animal even walking on his property, whether squirrel, dog, cat or bird! I know for a fact that one of the animals had been walking about for 13 yrs of its life without issue til this monster neighbor moved in. Now the kitty's dead because he was not given the appropriate timelime allowed by the Snow Hill animal shelter. That neighbor absolutely KNEW that there is a local NO KILL shelter only 3 miles away but chose to take those innocent animals to Snow Hill so they would DIE!!!! This is a lack of proper protocol on behalf of Snow Hill animal "so-called" Humane Society ettiquette to wait the 10 days hold (this cat was killed I know in 4 days) and blatant attack of an animal-hater who lives very close to my home. If he did this to my pet, I assure you all that he would be snuffing some gas to suffocate his butt like he did to those inncoent animals that HE BAITED TO THEIR DEATH!!!!!!!! He LURED them to his property ...This is nowhere near over And how would you like it Mr or MRS Anonymous if it was YOUR animals!!!!!!!!!!!
