Do all of you recall that piece on WBOC with Deputy Funk claiming he was scared to death that he was going to lose his house and everything else because they do not have disability? Did you see Sheriff Mike Lewis on PAC 14 stating how he supports his men and women 100%. Sheriff Mike Lewis and his Deputies are trying to get citizens to believe they have NO disability. Guess what, it's complete BS!
That's right, the Deputies have the same disability insurance as ANY County Employee. If someone ran over a County Employee's foot with a dump truck, they would get the same disability the Deputies would receive. Now, could it and should it be better, perhaps, I don't know. However, each and every Deputy knew what they signed up for when they took the job, (with all due respect) but to pull this political CRAP and ACT like they have NOTHING is a scam.
Sheriff Lewis and Officer Funk absolutely mislead the public and I can assure you this will be proven in tomorrow's Council Meeting. The THEATRICS need to end. You know, like, we have the DNA Evidence to convict Thomas Leggs for the Death Penalty, BS! Not true, a complete LIE. Sheriff Lewis is starting to make the Department look like a three ring circus. He may be a great speaker but very much so like Obama, he's full of crap.
Because of ALL of the things mentioned above, get this, expect the FOP to withdraw COLLECTIVE BARGAINING IMMEDIATELY. From what I've already heard, it's off the table right here and now. The FOP has agreed to extend the negotiations now until June 15th. They know there is no money at this point and time and before the Council flat out tells them no, they'll table the topic.
In the mean time, in Rick Pollitt's new Budget, he actually wanted to give the Teachers and Sheriff's Department a 2% pay raise! Mind you, Rick Pollitt now knows those raises cannot happen but no other County Employees would have seen a raise.
Know that the three posts tonight on Wicomico County will have a different kind of twist in tomorrow's news. Not truth, twist. The Daily Times liberal agenda will show support towards Norm Conway and Rick Pollitt's views. WBOC will have to answer as to HOW they can claim they're held to a higher standard by investigating their stories, yet they simply produced a disability story that was completely full of crap.
I strongly urge you to either attend tomorrow's County Council Meeting or watch it on PAC 14 at 10:00 AM. It may just be one of the most important meeting you will ever witness.
Why are the Sheriffs any more important when it comes to getting hurt on the job than any other county employee that gets hurt on the job?
ReplyDeleteUmmmmm.doughnuts.
ReplyDelete10:14 because they intentionally put themselves in harms way to defend you and your family.
ReplyDeleteAnd, going to a county council meeting is a BIG FREAKING waste of time. The county crooks have done a lot of irreversible economic damage.
ReplyDeleteThe detention center correctional officers haven't seen a pay raise since, ummmmmm maybe 2005. They've been furlough to death. Short staff to death. OoooVvvvEeeeRrrrTtttIiiiMmmmEeee to death. And, you people want to raise teachers pay by 2%. Hell, they only work a 1/2 a year in the classroom. This is a disgrace.
ReplyDelete11:24,
ReplyDeleteAMEN. Yes, you are so correct. People in this county need to show some darn respect for the officers out there risking their lives to keep US safe.

Do YOU feel safe?
12:26am and 11:24pm I think it is the other way around these cry baby cops need to show the people of this county some more respect!
ReplyDeleteRespect needs to be shown to all people by all people. Every job is important and each agency has a service they are providing. And each service is important. Teachers work hard to try to teach our children. Law enforcement work to try and protect our children. Both deserve the respect.
ReplyDeleteDear Joe,
ReplyDeleteOne of the WCSO best deputies is shot and you drag his name through the mud. That is a shame! Tom is one of the most honorable guys I know in this crooked town. He has a wonderful reputation, professionally and personally.
Tom simply pointed out that the current disability is not sufficient for the job and would not be sustainable if a deputy sustained a catastrophic injury and would not be able to return to work. Nobody said deputies are better than any other county worker, the job description and the risks are a lot greater then an accountant or an parks and recs employee.
And you are right Joe. The guys and gals signed up for the job knowing the risk. At 21/22 years of age you really don't look into the future. When you get married and have a baby you start to think. You are responsible for another life and have to provide for your family.
Tom's career almost ended that day.
Respect is earned, not given, the law enforcement community here needs to treat the public right. Don't drive by me at 80 miles an hours in a 65 mile per hour zone, talking on your cell phone with your tinted windows and then want respect from the public.
ReplyDeleteYou can't break the law everyday and then expect the public to want to raise your pay and back you up when it comes time for pay raises.
Respect is earned
The refuse disposal personnel working for the county are more at risk for injury or death on the job than police.
ReplyDeleteSTOP the propaganda that cops put their lives on the line.
The job is not even in the top 10 most dangerous ways to earn a living. Truth.
@9:37. How about it.
They do not deserve respect until they abide by the law they enforce. Most are hypocrites.
Here is a thought, if you do not want to be worried about coverage for disability FIND ANOTHER LINE OF WORK. Every other county worker, Sheriffs included have been able to work under the conditions for years and now it isn't good enough. If you want to pull the "we are in the line of fire" routine then FIND ANOTHER JOB you knew that coming into becoming an officer.
ReplyDelete@9:37 perfect.
ReplyDeleteYou want a raise, start walking a beat and really making a difference. Stop acting like crime isnt at an all time high in our area. Stop acting like you are making a difference and make one.
Gotta tell you, teaching is dangerous these days.
ReplyDelete8:01 that's exactly right. Senior experienced deputies resign and go to depts with the coverage. Also, your recruitment pool declines, leaving "bottom of the barrell" candidates to choose from. And the last thing you want is a low talent pool dept. this will ultimately lead you into trouble.
ReplyDelete9:37 this is not new York. Walking a beat with 4-5 deputies covering 400sq miles does not make a whole lot of sense, does it? 7:04- really, refuse workers is a dangerous job. Wow. Please tell me more of your fun facts.
ReplyDeleteComplaining about coverage when you are a cop is like complaining about the weather when you are a mail man....
ReplyDeleteThe BOE has a low talent pool in adminstrative positions. This is the real reason they are in trouble. Citizens, we are in real trouble.
ReplyDelete@12:19
ReplyDelete10. Driver/Sales Workers and Truck Drivers
9. Refuse and Recycling Collectors
8. Roofers
7. Mining machine operators
6. Coal miners
5. Farmers and Ranchers
4. Miscellaneous Extraction Workers (these workers examine and inspect equipment, construction sites and work in progress, often at heavy-construction projects)
3. Pilots and Flight Engineers (this includes test pilots and rescue aircraft)
2. Logging Workers
1. Fish-Related Workers (anyone who has seen Deadliest Catch can relate to this one)
What don't you see on the list?
Truth can be astounding when you've been force fed propaganda by the FOP and MSM for years.
That fact being established, LEO's do play an important role in our society. That is why it is important for them to resist the urges to use the badge for personal gain or to circumvent law and integrity.
Unfortunately too many have such a big chip on their shoulder they are corrupt. 12:19

ReplyDeleteNo it is Salisbury and it is becoming almost as dangerous as New York. So what do you propose that LEOs get an increased benefits for doing less work? You do not have to walk a beat the entire time you are on duty but seeing a cops stroll by here and there wouldn't hurt the community. But then again thats asking cops to get out of the AC in cars covered by the town and gas covered by taxes. Police have more authority than ever since they basically do what they want anymore, yet crime keeps getting worse.
