Today's Survey Question 4-24-12

After much thought last night I decided that perhaps some people are right. Perhaps I should go to the next level towards change. Perhaps I should make my move to Wicomico County and run for Mayor of Salisbury.

That being said, since we've turned off word verification on comments, what's your thoughts. If I were to run for Mayor of Salisbury, would I get your vote?

  3. Go for it Joe, at least we know you aren't in it for political gain like our current dufus.

That's really what we need in a mayor, someone who knows how to run a business AND succeed!

Party politics is killing this country.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Absolutely 100% yes.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Live in Somerset, but Joe you should really run. We need someone who is out to do what is right for Salisbury NOT kiss a bunch of special interest butts!

    ReplyDelete
  6. I would if I could...but I can't so I won't. I don't live in city limits. Sorry Joe!

    ReplyDelete
  7. I may not agree with you on some issues but there's no doubt in my mind you'd make a great Mayor.

    ReplyDelete
  8. As someone who works for the city I'd welcome you with open arms.

    ReplyDelete
  9. PLEASE stay in Delaware!

    ReplyDelete
  10. You have my vote.

    ReplyDelete
  11. No sorry too divisive

    ReplyDelete
  12. yes. It takes balls to run!

    ReplyDelete
  13. I would vote for you.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Just the thought of it excites me. Can you imagine how many new voters would actually get out and vote. I see a whole new interest being revitalized in Salisbury if you were to truly consider running Joe. My answer is yes.

    ReplyDelete
  15. If I were in city limits..damn right I'd vote for you!

  16. I'm in Indiana, former resident. I think you are just what Salisbury needs to get back on the right track! Go for it!

    ReplyDelete
  17. To the one person continuously saying no, yet using the same IP Address over and over again, grow up and stop wasting our time.

    ReplyDelete
  18. OMG - YES!
    PLEASE!
I would never be so happy!

    ReplyDelete
  19. You really could win because peole would like something different.

It would be a real eye opener and I would guess nothing would change.

We could start a pool on how long it would take for you to lose it.

    ReplyDelete
  20. run as a libertarian mayor, adopt libertarian values and political ideas....then YES. and you would gain a large support from the college if you bring real life practical answers to their problems.

    ReplyDelete
  21. AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! This is a joke right? You aren't qualified to be the dog catcher...well maybe you are...look at that dog you caught in the picture. AHAHAHAHAHAHAH

  24. anonymous 11:30, lose it, as in like watching Jim Ireton throw hissy fits every 5 minutes?

No, actually I have employed thousands of people in the past and I know how to manage a business and hard working people.

I'd think out of the box like no one ever has here on the Shore. I've already discussed this with many close friends and they are BLOWN AWAY at just some of the ideas I've already presented.

I'd make sure the entire Council showed more respect towards one and other by engaging them on their true talents. They are ALL there for a reason. Someone just needs to manage them properly ad NO ONE has ever attempted that.

Believe me, there's a LOT that can be done without blowing up. The Mayor's job is to represent the people. I will NOT run a campaign, (should I choose to run) on feel good slogans. We ALL know what needs to be done. We ALL need to come together to help each other on BOTH sides.

Screw the politics. I would never run for Mayor and act like the big cheese. I would ALWAYS recognize everyone who works with me and especialy every one who pays taxes, does business and visits the City of Salisbury.

The parking meters would be history and believe me, I have an answer as to how to raise that lost revenue once they are gone.

When I'm ready I'll share all of that with you. Show the support and maybe we'll finally see the light at the end of the tunnel.

  25. I'm a former resident, still living in MD, but I'm sure you'd be able to win it Joe! You've got a helluva following in the area, and you're a straight shooter. Some people don't like that, but many more appreciate it.

    ReplyDelete
  26. Joe, Although I live in Worcester County and formely lived in Wicomico county I have an abundance of friends in fantasy-land I will get them to give you their vote.

    ReplyDelete
  27. JOE!!! You Gotta do it!!! It is the right next level for you to conquer. We here in town would be rewarded by having such a man to represent and serve this city. Joe,, I can round up hundreds of votes for you sir! MK

    ReplyDelete
  28. You should hire Mark McIver as your campaign manager. Now that man knows how to win a political race!

    ReplyDelete
  29. 3 votes in my household would vote for you.

    ReplyDelete
  30. This is the talk of the day in the government office building. Unfortunately many of us don't live in the city but from everything I'm hearing from coworkers we'd welcome it with open arms.

    ReplyDelete
  31. At least we'd have a beautiful first lady.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Joe, before your ego get's the best of you here is the reality. If you were voted in as mayor it would not be because of your expertise, or qualifications. It would be because ANYONE could beat Ireton as mayor. I mean ANYONE!.

    ReplyDelete
  33. 11:35 (first one). Grow up. Why not say something constructive instead of childish?
If I were in city limits, yes I would.

    ReplyDelete
  34. With all due respect, (while I whole heartedly agree, by the way) I'd consider running because I can and will turn this community around. Ireton may be easy to beat but I can guarantee you if ANYONE can beat me they deserve the position. It doesn't get any better then that.

    ReplyDelete
  35. if i lived in city limits, yes i would vote for you...

    ReplyDelete
  36. OK, I'm intrigued. I and probably many others feel like they know you from reading this blog over the years. you have done the city a great service by exposing the shenanigans of the former and current administrations.

But Joe, your politics are far beyond right-winged- doubting a moon landing? Bashing Obama without ever, and I mean not once, offering your views of whom you endorse or what should be done. Just relentless negativity.

The way you've gone after anyone who dares even to disagree with you? Unfortunately sir, these are not attributes that would help you or the citizens in the future.

Nonetheless, I remain a fan of your blog, but to run and win, be an effective mayor, and serve the city's citizens you have to work with people sometimes- and I don't know if you own that skill set or not...
    Sincerely, Intrigued Nonetheless

    ReplyDelete
  37. Two votes from this household! Do it!

    ReplyDelete
  38. Hey you could live in your mother in-law's house!

    ReplyDelete
  39. anonymous 12:20, Thank You for your comment. Just because I'm republican doesn't mean I close my eyes to the liberal point of view. Obama sucks as President and I dare any one of you to come back here and tell all of us he will go down in history as a great President.

That being said, the job of Mayor is NOT anywhere close to that level. What you don't know about me is that I have owned numerous businesses dealing with not only the corporate world, I have owned several very successful retail businesses dealing with the public.

The sad part about some people is that they do not take the time to get to know someone better. I welcome you and every one else to try it some time. You'd be amazed at just how different people are away from a keyboard. If you watched PAC 14 last night, that's the Joe Albero the taxpayers would get. I say taxpayers because I'd represent everyone who pays taxes in the ity and not just those people who live here.

Nevertheless, let the voters make their decision. I certaily won't go by, (with all due respect) one persons opinion, yet I welcome your thoughts. We'll agree to disagree, I hope?

    ReplyDelete
  40. yes I would vote for you , by the way ,the only leader that is compared to obama is Hitler.

    ReplyDelete
  41. Joe. they would be dragging you through every court they could. The court is is bed with the city and county . Just go watch their trials. The city and county lawyers can make the judges believe that night is light and day is dark. You would be tied up fighting lawsuits every second of your term. They would be running like cockroaches with the light turned on. They would risk losing control if you were in office. I would still vote for you if you ran.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Worcester resident here, but I would vote for you. I'm tired of suck up elected officials who say one thing and then do another and their only loyalites lie with those who finance their campaigns.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I live outside city limits but I think you should do it,you sure would go after it with a passion.Could you be considerate to the ones that disagree with you on some issues?

    ReplyDelete
  44. Joe, I know you have a lot of followers and supporters. However, running for mayor of Salisbury is like putting fresh paint on a condemened building; it just doesn't make sense. The glory days of Salisbury are in the rear view mirror. The dysfunctional nature of the poorly run city has caused it's demise. I moved from Salisbury to Delmar, I could no longer tolerate or support this failing city. Boarding a sinking ship with a bucket to correct the problem, is still boarding a sinking ship. Salisbury politics is a big waste of time. Joe your blog is your greatest asset.

    ReplyDelete
  45. Be very careful if you run against Ireton , he will just go out and buy some very provocative dresses
and heels. This will insure him a win.

    ReplyDelete
  46. yes, you could be the salisbury "Ted Nugent"

    ReplyDelete
  47. Although you drive me nuts with your personal attacks and post items without checking the facts, between you & Jim I'd check your box

    ReplyDelete
  48. Yes. And glad I lit that fire.

    Butthole

    ReplyDelete
  49. Good Lord JR, can't you find anything else to do. By the way, man up and use your name or I'll keep rejecting your comments. Drives you nuts how we know every time you try to put up a comment, doesn't it.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Okay, i'll bite...

Obama will go down as the greatest president that we have ever had.....if he wins re-election and begins to rewrite history as he has his birth certificate.

    ReplyDelete
  51. I heard some of your ideas for the City and County and I believe you are on the right track. Run Joe Run!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Probably. Depends on who your competition is.

    ReplyDelete
  53. Absolutely! Two from here and I would be happy to help your campaign.

    ReplyDelete
  54. I don't live in the city, but I'd go ahead and hack the machines. You'd get more votes than than there are residents in the city. Of course, you would probably get shot at a traffic stop for reaching for your wallet, er, uh, I mean, a weapon. Or double parking. Or not wearing a seat belt and "resisting" arrest, or "obstructing justice". Run anyway. You might be the last hope Salisbury has. And 11:35 MUST be blind. Your wife is HOT! No disrespect intended.

    ReplyDelete
  55. 12:52 You really need to grow up

    ReplyDelete
  56. Would you still be able to blog?

    ReplyDelete
  57. Joe, remember that Salisbury is as democratic as it can be. You will struggle getting the votes you need - but go for it!

    ReplyDelete
  58. I'd run for Sussex County council and lure every business out of Salisbury...and see to it that Delmar has a casino built right accross the St. line that sucks Da Bury dry.

    ReplyDelete
  59. tough one. i not a fan of yours because of the way you cover some things on here. but, yea, i would vote for you for mayor.
things would hit the fan fast. and the city and county need it.

    ReplyDelete
  60. Joe

Are you legally allowed to run?

The State Constitution of Maryland disqualifies anyone who has been convicted of a felony from holding an elected office position.

    Sure this won't get posted

    ReplyDelete
  61. anonymous 1:51, why shouldn't your comment get posted, as you suggest?

Did you think that comments like yours aren't expected?

You have been spreading such lies about me for years, so let's face this head on.

I have NEVER been convicted of ANY crime, EVER.

Now, do share with the world just exactly what felony or crime I supposedly was convicted of. The ball is now in your court. Jonathan taylor and John Robinson have openly been telling people this lie for years but this is exactly why I plan on coming out early with an announcement to confront these jackasses head on.

Jonathan, go ahead and PROVE to everyone that I have been convicted of a felony or ANY crime for that matter. You two have to be the biggest liars and jackasses the Eastern Shore has ever seen. The ONLY way you can even try to beat me is through lies. Well, lies can't win elections. If I run, I will win.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I dont live in city limits, but I have a rental property in the city and taxes are out of this world for what we get. You would have my vote, you would be honest, you would speak your mind (which I believe is a good wuality) and YOU would get things DONE! Go for IT!

    ReplyDelete
  63. I don't live in Sby but I think you should run. I would vote for you if I could.

    ReplyDelete
  64. John S, rather than your trying to act as if you are now innocent, why don't you go look it up on Maryland Case Search. Defaming someone is against the law. If anyone has broken the law, it's been you.

    ReplyDelete
  65. John S is one of Robinsons boys.

    ReplyDelete
  66. What can we do to help you Joe. The dirty dozen have your back.

    ReplyDelete
  67. What is your plan as mayor what do you want to do and plan for the city? It takes a man with a plan and a way to carry it all out. What do you feel the people need?AND can you do it make it happen?

Just being plain pissed off is not a good qualification for mayor. We dont need drama or out of control emotions. If things dont go as you want are you going to rant and swear?

    ReplyDelete
  68. Distractions make for dischord.

    ReplyDelete
  69. Your going to need city democrats. Obama bashing and right wing conspiracy crap is going to turn them off. That stuff really has nothing to do with the city, so maybe you just concentrate on local issues.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Absolutely Joe and I would gladly campaign for you as well.

    ReplyDelete
  71. I think you better hang on to that thought about not having a criminal record. Word on the street is Mike and Matt are in the process of gift wrapping a little present for you that will change all that. They say it's almost finished too.

    ReplyDelete
  72. Wanting change doesn't make it happen. You have to have others on your side think about it. How many are against you now? They will only make it worse.

Also, people will turn against you if they cant have what they want. They are all about what they want in this area, there are a lot of irrational people here.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Joe,
I live just outside the city limits but would be glad to support you in your run.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Stick to blogging. You would not have my support.

    ReplyDelete
  75. Let's face it, the only reason Ireton won was because he ran against Gary.

Shanie might beat him if nobody else runs this go round.

    ReplyDelete
  76. You are a legend in your own mind. If you were half as intelligent as you think you are, you would still be too stupid to be elected for anything. Please just shoot yourself.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I believe you would make a great mayor of salisbury...you've been open and down right honest on this blog and this city needs it...I don't live here and can't vote but I sure work here and know salisbury needs good honest direction for a change...I think with you at the helm not to much BS is going to go on without those behind it being held accountable and that's what salisbury lost the most ACCOUNTABILITY!!! The city council is joke...NOT ONE OF THEM ALL OF THEM!! save this city Joe!

    ReplyDelete
  78. Go for it Joe. I think you will win. The current mayor is a joke.

    ReplyDelete
  79. as another city employee...hell yes!

    ReplyDelete
  80. I would vote for you. Only if you will take opinions from every side into consideration. I dont like when issues are singled out to conservatives or liberals individually. All of our issues have been created over the past 10 years by both democrat and republican. We need someone to focus on the actual issues at hand and not on baseless jabs at either party.

    Literally someone like Ron Paul.

    ReplyDelete
  81. It would be tought for you in a heavily democratic city. They will eat you alive with all your Obama bashing, rants, and crazy conspiracy theories. Don't waste your money.

    ReplyDelete
  82. I would vote for you as long as you were NOT running as democrat or republican. I don't trust those two parties.

    ReplyDelete
  83. anonymous 3:53, are some of you people really that stupid? Do you really believe making statements like that, I'm going to sit back and say, wow, this Idiot is right. I should give it all up because I'm a republican who believes Obama sucks as a President.

Guess what pal, this isn't partison politics. This is a job in which someone needs to properly direct the City and NEVER even think about what side of the party line ANY ONE of the people around you are one.

Jim ireton turned it into a Presidential Campaign and was a fool for doing so. He is dividing the parties as if it was a national position.

I have not stated I would in fact run but from the looks of it I think the people are behind me more so than any other candidate I can think of.

In the mean time, I'm ready for people like you if I do decide to run. ALL you have is personal bashing but like I told Barrie Tilghman, BRING IT ON!

    ReplyDelete
  84. anonymous 2:42, OMG, you scare me to death! MIKE AND MATT at the same time!!!!! I have to break the law for either one of them to come after me and guess what, I don't break the law. I should add, IDIOT, I get "word on the street" a whole lot faster then anyopne else out there so I'm confident I would have heard something before any anonymous commenter would.

    ReplyDelete
  85. Joe, if you were mayor, and you were facing the situation that the county is facing with the revenue cap, taking into account that the State has mandated Maintenance of effort, how would you continue to fund the other necessary functions of government that must be provide by law? How would you ensure Police protection, roads maintenance, Health Department, and general government? I ask this because you seem to be a staunch supporter of the cap, but I think if you were on the other side of the table, and it were your job to figure this out, you may have a different view and understanding of the cap. Also, you have to convince a majority of council to allow to even maintain revenue.

    ReplyDelete
  86. You Better believe it 2 in my house its time for common sense to prevail!!!

    ReplyDelete
  87. To the people would not support you,its obvious their liberals and like the current way business is done.

    ReplyDelete
  88. Who would then bring us the real news?

    ReplyDelete
  89. anonymous 4:23, Dear Jim Ireton or Rick Pollitt, that's YOUR problem right now and I'll be darned if I'm going to GIVE you the answer to that question. By the time I'm in Office, (should I choose to run) I'll have my own leftovers from your Office to deal with. However, I'm NOT helping you get out of the situation you are currently in, nice try.

    ReplyDelete
  90. I don't live in the city but own a buisness in city limits and I have been trying to figure out how to relocate to Delaware without losing my butt because I would have to give away my property to sell it...just look at all the vacant properties around. I refuse to be a deadbeat and just let the bank take it. This is the first encouraging news I have heard for Salisbury in a long time.

    ReplyDelete
  91. I would vote for you in a heartbeat. I'll even go door to door all over this city campaigning for you.

It's about high time this Town was turned up on its head.

    ReplyDelete
  92. WOW! 101 comments so far. Go Joe

    ReplyDelete
  93. I have a business in this town. I cant vote for you BUT I will go door to door campaigning for you.
    I have taxation without representation.

    ReplyDelete
  94. Both my Registered Democrat 64 year old spouse and I a life time 67 year old Democrat.....would ABSOLUTELY VOTE FOR YOU but why not run to HEAD THE WICOMICO COUNTY SEAT WE NEED YOU! TAXES ARE SO HIGH WE'D MOVE TO DEL IF WE COULD SELL OUR HOME! GO JOE GO YES WE WOULD VOTE FOR YOU

    ReplyDelete
  95. I don't even have to think about it. YES, plus I also would love to help in any way you may need it. Please don't tease us and just put your hat in. We have your back.map

    ReplyDelete
  96. I thought you lived in Delaware? Just curious how you could run for mayor in another state?

    ReplyDelete
  97. While anyone could do better, I'm concerned you'd be no different and then the first time you have to do something unpopular you'd be disliked. What Salisbury needs is a real business person with vision and desire to do the right thing, not the popular thing. Good luck, I'd like to see you run, but doubt you'd really do it for fear of have to put up or shut up!.

    ReplyDelete
  98. If you were Wicomico County Exec. would you terminate Strausberg and the "public info officer" on you first day in office.

If so, you would get my vote!

    ReplyDelete
  99. I live 2 blocks from city limits....I'd vote for you if I could, though I'd rather see you replace pollitt, you'd be more helpful/effective state wide. But I cant hold it against you for not wanting to deal with this pig sty pollitts made of this County.

    ReplyDelete
  100. Just run on the free parking issue, your sure to win!

    ReplyDelete
  101. Joe, if you have a vision of how a better Salisbury could be,go for it.To me working with developers to make a better city instead of worrying how much money they make, organizing the city services, free parking, have a downtown bizzare every weekend, maybe a bicycle race are some ideas for a better city.

    ReplyDelete
  102. for what its worthApril 24, 2012 at 8:05 PM

    mr albero
for sure i would vote for you 100%
you also own property in pittsville and they sure need a fresh start in there mayors office. if salisbury does not work please come here.i will be counting the clock ticks till.

    ReplyDelete
  103. You would have my vote Joe!

    ReplyDelete
  104. I can't vote for you because I live in Crisfield. But if I could, I would.

    ReplyDelete
  105. I can't wait to watch the debates. No dodging the facts and ugly truths if Joe's in the race.

    ReplyDelete
  106. I lived in Berlin when I was born, three blocks south of there.

    ReplyDelete
  107. I went to Buckingham. My first grade teacher was named Mrs Square which at a young age threw me a bit because she was a big fat giant round woman. She was mean to me. I think she was really mad at herself more than me, I think I was just a vent for her crap. I was only four so I dont really know.

    ReplyDelete
  108. Being a Democrat, I would vote for you several times. In fact, I have some deceased family members and friends that I am sure I could get to vote for you.

    Go for it!

    ReplyDelete
  109. Joe I would like to see you take slick ricks place. You could do a lot of good there!

    ReplyDelete
  110. I don't think anyone could question your desire to improve on the many problems we have in the city. When it comes time to run, you will probably not be the only person... so, it will depend on what they say. Truthfully, we've seen people on council right now who said one thing when running and have been a HUGE disappointment! I hope you are able to be clear and concise with your solutions.

    ReplyDelete
  111. yes, and your wife is stunning. :)

    ReplyDelete
  112. Very curious in townApril 24, 2012 at 9:32 PM

No firm commitment until everything is weighed. The current weight of BS available in our current mayor has you at number one.
Don't promise me the two things I ask prove it
    Be Fair
    Be Honest

I will make a decision So far I don't always agree with your opinions or stance but I do think your hones

    ReplyDelete
  113. You would have my vote!!I am a city employee and we need someone with a backbone to shake things up. There is way too much favoritism and personal agendas. Please Joe take charge.

    ReplyDelete
  114. I have given this a great deal of thought and am still not sure if I could vote for you are not. I have been reading your blog about three years and in my opinion you are too much of a rogue, one to do things your way, which is not always a bad trait. My concern is if you would follow the rules and mandates of the city charter and keep your temper. If you do it your way, you could cost the city plenty with law suits from the voters. So you have until election to prove to me and the other "not sures and definitely nos" that you ARE the man for the job.

    ReplyDelete
  115. 6:40 . There is way too much favoritism and personal agendas.

That would not change, just different people.

    ReplyDelete
  116. It's because of comments like your answer to 5:05 that I would not vote for you. It's all about you, not the good of the county, city, whatever. If you really have answers that might help, why don't you offer them NOW? This "I only am willing to help if I am the one running the show" is an attitude we can do without. Another reason I would not vote for you is your history of venemous attacks on your adversaries. We can do without that kind of leadership.

    ReplyDelete
  117. Honestly Joe, I would vote for anyone, but the people currently in office. We need a change, a new set of eyes, new opinions, and people with a more up-to-date way of thinking. Local governments have become too accustomed to the ways of the past. Things have changed in our economy and we need to change in order to keep up with it or else we will all fail. Someone needs to knock some sense into our Mayor and Council. I dont always agree with everything you say, but you would have my vote and my husbands.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I will vote for you. We need a change bad.

    ReplyDelete
  119. People should stop knocking the council. Jim Ireton treated Louise Smith better than he has treated Terry Cohen from the start, and he treated Louise Smith like you-know-what! He even made ME feel sorry for her at times!

Laura Mitchell turned out to be...

    never mind. you know.

I can only imagine the good that could have come out of this last election if Ireton had been true to his campaign word.

But he wasn't. He is awful. He behaves like a tantrum-throwing brat. I hope Joe runs. He may have his run ins with people, but from what I've seen of him, he is mostly civil, even when he disagrees.
