  6. I can not hardly even understand his words.I can tell you that they show alot of Salisburys slum areas and references his freinds as niggers. They can say it but whites can't or it would be a race issue. Shows how well educated this person is looks like he could do something more constructive with his time.Like get a job and not rapping.

  7. He should be profiled for no talent.

  8. "They can say it but whites can't or it would be a race issue."

Why do you want to say the "N" word so bad?

    ReplyDelete
  9. I didn't see anything wrong with it. Guess in the beginning he said you have to go around strapped - but honestly it is Salisbury, who wouldn't want to be strapped.

He said shout out to East Side & West Side, doesn't have to be referring to the gangs by that name, but seems he's promoting unity.

Seems he's trying to be positive about Salisbury, something that no one else that lives there is.

I'd say give him a chance, hope he becomes a success. You might not personally like his music style, but he seems pretty good to me, and spent alot of time editing and working on it.

  12. "...you gotta watch your back..."

We all do on the 'Bury. Gangs come in all races, ages and levels of economic comfort. It isn't so much have and have not as it is greed.

  13. I would really like to know how a video abt unity gets the warning sign. I didnt hear anything foul or derogatory abt this video. And how someone who is running for mayor put this video abt unity up and pretty much label it as if it was something negative. Those young men are chasing their dream and putting a positive message out there, and of course here comes the negativity. Smh. I guess you gotta take the good with the bad. Congratulations to the young men in the video. I pray you make it. Keep putting good music out there. Keep your head up, any publicity is good publicity. You definetly got your haters following you. Its just sad the negativity is coming from someone we suppose to vote for as a mayor. Wow.

Its not the song itself. its the hip hop song about salisbury. yes the n word was used a few times but i heard nothin horrific. even spoke on wihi. them using the n word we all must realize this is a widely used words in not just black communities but white communities as well. these young men are high school graduates, college attending, working young men with no criminal records.those guys should be happy. free promotion...

  15. 4:13 Chasing his dream...his dream is certianly not to be a leader in industry, bank president, doctor, Lawyer, etc. Music?????????????? I can just see some teenager of today after being married for many years saying "Look honey they are playing our song" Grrrrrrrr
Joe, there is much better stuff to put on here.

  16. And you're all worried about the college students?!? Unreal, haha.

  17. This is not right, they aren't bothering anybody.

  18. @4:13 College attending? I should have known. These SU students keep getting on my nerves talking about how crappy Salisbury is.

  19. Kia,
The word Nig..r is quite offensive. I am a black women. I absolutely hate the ideal of black men and women being address as nig..r. That word should not be used by our young people or any ethnic group. I'll be frank, take that rapping, strapping, thugging and slumming attitude and keep it right there in S.A.L.I.S.B.U.R.Y Maryland. It will not do in our community. Black America will overcome it's adversary without the likes of you and your friends. I don't plan to live in an environment that is going to be run by a bunch of thug similac slumlord gangsta kids. Look at your own video. Slum neighborhoods is all I see. This is nothing to be proud of.
You probably will become famous for fifteen mminutes. What are you going to do for your community doing that time. Probably nothing. Your video is trash. Dump it.

  20. Whoever thinks this is a negative video is first of all a very ignorant close minded human being. This song was made to show pride for the city they grew up in. It was displayed from the artist point of view in how they grew up not from some pompus suburb silver spoon point of view. These negative comments are the same type of ignorant profiling thoughts that led to the murder of Trayvon Martin. Do ANYTHING while black whether its art, music, video, or even simply walking down the street, has got to stop being shown in a negative light. Good job on the video kids and keep being creative and true to yourselves. Don't pay any attention to these ignorant people that don't know your story, nor your hearts.

  21. That was the stupidest thing I have ever seen.

  22. the musicality in this production was good. the videography was good. but why in the world would anyone think this is about unity? it's a call out to gangs and a warning to salisbury that its gang time here in the Bury.at the end he said "it's time salisbury, you know whats coming." unless i misheard or misunderstood the words. i dont understand why you would post this. for the people who wondered about the foul language warning i guess they did not hear the same F bomb that i heard.

    ReplyDelete
  23. Question? What was the purpose of the video to begin with. What message was it suppose to send, and if there was a message, do I have to press 1 for English.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Yes, I agree with 2:47. I didn't view this video as a negative. He was showing and talking about his hometown. He was giving shout outs to the other towns as well. Other than the few "n" words I thought the video was pretty positive.

  27. They question isn't if she voted for Obama they question is did you vote for G.W. Bush? Because of him we in this mess! But thats another topic... Today we live in the Hip Hop generation.. These is his way of expressing him self... Judges how you may! If you don't come rom his walk of life you may not understand what he is saying. I'm just glad he's doing something he loves and not died or in prison. I personally know this young man and he is trying his best to live right and not fall to what goes on in areas he has family in. If music is what saves his life then we should just be grateful for that. There is the latter... he could be robbing and killing. Good work keep repping. #eshoremusic like it our not it's a movement!

    April 29, 2012 2:47 PM

I agree. I don't even like rap music but I listened to this one.

He's giving props to his hometown and people he grew up with. That's the only message I got from watching the video. Now, I didn't listen very hard to all the lyrics so I can't say there is a call to arms to all the gangs.

This isn't the first time someone has written a song about the eastern shore. "Sand in my shoes" comes to mind. Personally I thought that one sucked but that's just me.

The showing of the 'slums' as some have called it, is probably where he and his friends grew up and hung out.

You would do better to be outraged that we even have 'slums' in Salisbury than someone recording them. People have to live in that area. You don't think they have eyes and can see?

Personally I think he did a good job. His video and song is a whole lot more positive than most of these comments I am reading.

Maybe I'm missing something. Maybe I need more hate in my heart to see what some others are saying is there...NAW.

I'll take the good and leave the bad for y'all. Enjoy.

  29. Agree with 6:44. What was the purpose and what was the message. Would like a response from the author who produced this, and why? I do thank SBY news for posting it, but what is the meaning behind the message.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I personally know these young men. Both tax payers and college students. Using their freedom of speech to artistically express the view of their surroundings. Whats the issue?

    ReplyDelete
  31. I watched it again to see what I was missing. I can only assume you people are concerned with the words that the young man at the end of the video is saying, and not the song or video itself.

What's the message? What's the message?

The message is he made a video for his homies and his city.

If there was some coded message, all you chicken little's would understand it anyway so why you stressing?

I hate to use this worn out saying but I think it applies here.

If it was some white guy making this video, I doubt any of you would raise an eyebrow.

Leave it alone. It ain't nothing.

  32. Whats the issue?

    April 29, 2012 9:38 PM

I think the issue is they are exposed to something they don't understand, by people they don't understand, for any reason they can understand.

I don't know these guys from a can of paint. But I did some digging on the name that this was posted under on youtube.

The video's I saw that this person uploaded were not the type that would cause any alarm in my view.

Heck, I even copied two of them and put them on facebook.

Instead of freaking out, people should be encouraging these things. If for no other reason than it keeps them from doing bad things.

    Geesh.

  33. This is not my style of music and I don't use the n word but this is the music style of the day for many young people.I thought it was well done and I'm glad you posted it.

    ReplyDelete
  34. First of all, I wanted to say that me and my husband are christian.I looked at this video because of what people were saying. I must be missing something out of this video because I know these young adults and believe me they are far from talking about gangs and really bad language in this video. To me it's just a song talking about the commuity. All of these young adults grew up in a nice neighbor and have good career. People need to stop looking at the colar of a person skin and look at the talent the person have.If this video was by a white person, would someone even said anything. just because it's black young adults got talent, and what only a certain color should have talent.Grow up this is 2012.

  35. My parents and older folks didn't like or understand the music that molded myself growing up. I turned out to be a productive law abiding taxpayer, what's all the fuss about?

If you can't understand it, even more reason not to judge it.

  36. I heard a young black man talking about carrying a gun, protecting his turf or hood, resisting police, and making the Nu hood order official here.
He shouts out to all the places in Sby that are gang infested neighborhoods.
Coincedentally, all high crime area's and all high public assistance areas.

His lifestyle, character and idea of self respect are repugnant by any standard. Except of course, to those low live's that endorse this behavior as acceptable and normal AND those that have been conditioned to accept this as culture.
The quality of recording is pretty bad also as it's full of distortion.

    ReplyDelete
  37. i checked out some of their other songs/videos. not my kind of music, but they do have talent.
its not great for salisbury to be perceived like a ghetto-land but honestly who are we kidding? salisbury has some serious issues.

i'm with the others who hope these kids are on/stay on the right path & have success in life, even if it is in the music industry. :)

  38. I thought it was very good. Keep ondoing what u do

  39. I dont even like rap/hip hop but I listened to a few of their other songs and I definitely think that they have talent. They made a song about their hometown and where they came from. Not only did they point out the bad parts about their hometown but they included how much they love their hometown and how much people from the eastern shore supports them. If you ask me, they need to really be recognized. If I owned a label, I would sign them. Very creative!

  40. Did they edit any of the Video or is it just what Salisbury really looks like. Look you don;t like how it makes Salisbury look then get out and change the town your self.

  41. Freedom of speech..........you dont have to like what he is saying...or doing.....but the truth is he still gonna keep on doing....Big ups to a song that talks about our home town....

  42. No what you heard was in the neighborhood where he lives sometimes to feel safe he feels he has to carry a gun...... When yuor not from a certain walk of life then you must look, listen, and try to understand what he goes through. Yet feel free to feel how you must. I'm one of the creators of N.H.O. and we will continue to talk about what goes on and make videos!!!! And we ask that you continue to give us your feed back and get out here to change all of Salisbury and protect it... Not just the White neighborhoods, but all neighborhoods. We got a story to tell stay tuned!

What do you know of his lifestyle and character? Do you know him? Or just think you do?

I've listened to it twice and I never noticed any distortion. I do however, hear a lot of distortion when I read your comment.

The rest of your comment is even less worthy of discussing. You sound like a straight up hater and a racist. So be it.

You have to live with yourself, the rest of us do not.

  44. The only warning on this is about foul language.

He refers to N--- several times and uses the F word.

Even if you don't consider the N word "foul," the F word certainly said.

Wish I coulda heard some of it clearer. I didn't get the sense it was all negative. Seemed pretty heartfelt.

  45. Just so this is "out there", I am a 46 year old caucasian female...and this is talent. If people don't have anything positive to say then keep your mouths shut. How is this promoting gang violence???? If anything, this shows that there are young men and woman who have musical talent and want badly to do something with it INSTEAD of being in the streets. Yes, Salisbury, like ANYWHERE ELSE, has it's gangs and drugs but it also has a number of young people who want better than that. I watched many of these kids grow up in these "hotspot" neighborhoods and guess what? They're people with feelings too. Stop judging others because it's not your place. Kudos to the writers and performers of this song S.A.L.I.S.B.U.R.Y. You did a great job!!

  46. I personally know these guys and they are young EDUCATED, BLACK MEN who happen to be doing ONE of the things that they love doing! This song and video is what's up! All the negativity is a wonderful thing! You guys...ride on the backs of your haters! Ride them all the way to the top and then bend over and spit in their faces! Now, I bet you wont add this to your weak blog!

    ReplyDelete
  47. First of all I'm not going to hide my identity as Anonymous because I could really care less what any of you people that are always negative have to say about me....Second of all...how is two young men expressing their feelings about where they grew up in a artistic manner gang related or degrading Salisbury. Both of these young men were brought up in a stable household and are far from not being educated. So to sit up on your high horse and make it a gang issue, race issue, or jus saying these guys have no talent is degrading of you and you should be ashamed of yourselves. I applaud these young men for making a song for where they are from and not where they Are going....and as far as the racial comments The college students riot that happened in Salisbury was not as publicized as it should it been, honestly if that happened with UMES students it would of been statewide on every news station, website, and Internet site known to man...And as far as the N word don't act like some of you people that are not of the African American race don't use it behind closed doors

  48. I didnt see or hear anything wrong with the video. you have beautiful voices and keep up the good work.Just keep on the right path. keep your heads up and dont let no one say you will mont to nothing cause you will have faith in god and you can accomplish anything. You guys are great.Keep up the good work.

  49. I've read these comments and I am laughing..not at the artists, not at the video, but at you IGNORANT people! I don't mean ignorant in a derogatory way, but I do mean ignorant in a lack of knowledge way or UNLEARNED way! Ignorant people, please learn about the different cultural music styles of choice, maybe you will be educated enough to understand the true concept of this song! You are so ignorant that you have judged 2 black men for doing what they enjoy doing. They are not gang banging, dope dealing, robbing, or stealing! They are legally making music that peole are enjoying. Stay
in your lane, ignorant people because clearly you have
no idea what's going on in this one!

  50. ay yo, i didn't see anything about maryland and light. too scared to come down?

    ReplyDelete
  51. What is exactly wrong with the song? Is it because the video is nothing but the " not so rich " areas? Why would these young men make a song/video including areas that they did not grow up in? If you ask me, I love the song. I even downloaded it from YouTube. God bless all the ignorance and the racist slurs being thrown at these young men. I pray that they make it big just to prove every one of u wrong.
