Md. To Close Park Near Camp David For G-8

THURMONT, Md. - The Department of Natural Resources says it will close Cunningham Falls State Park near Thurmont to all public access during the G-8 Summit.

Officials said Monday the U.S. Secret Service asked that the park, near Camp David where the gathering of eight of the world's largest economies will meet, be closed May 17 through May 19.

The closure includes all of Cunningham Falls State Park, including Houck and Manor day-use areas and all trails. Cunningham Falls State Park adjoins Catoctin Mountain Park, which will also be closed to all public access during the summit.

All other state parks will be open, including nearby Greenbrier and Gambrill State Parks. Campers with reservations for the Houck area campground are being notified and will be offered a discount for future camping.
