Mardela High School student Tara Swope, along with the Mardela Middle and High Student Government Association, will put on a ZUMBATHON charity event from 6-7 p.m. Friday, April 13, in the school cafeteria. The event is a fundraiser for Courtney’s House, a nonprofit organization in Washington DC that provides essential services to victims ages 12-18 of domestic sex trafficking. Money will help provide these boys and girls with shelter, support groups and group therapy through Courtney’s House. Tickets are $10 and will be sold at the door. Licensed Zumba fitness instructor Megan J. Hoeffner will lead the activities. 410-677-5142
Publishers Notes: We're so sorry for the last minute notice on this event. You see, the Board of Education only published this last night or perhaps early this morning, acting as if they just learned about it themselves.
This is one of my major issues with the BOE. They know well in advance about ALL of these events but they wait until the last minute OR even wait until the event is actually over before they publish it on their website.
So, you might ask why. Well, they also just published the $50,000.00 donation that was all over the news yesterday, photos and all, go figure! Seems to me their partner, (the Daily Times) gets information well in advance while others, (YOU) must wait or even read about the event AFTER it already happened.
Sorry, just thought you should be made aware of what the BOE does.
A person would have to be a Zumass to donate to this. Have we totally lost it?
ReplyDeleteWell hopefully you will never need the aid of any of the services these non-profit organizations provide to people in need.
ReplyDeleteAnd thanks to everyone who came. We raised a lot of money FOR A GREAT CAUSE and had fun too!!
