Incident: Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol
Date of Incident: 10 March 2012
Location: S. Division Street, Salisbury, MD
Suspect: William Ellis Adams, 70, Bishopville, MD

Narrative: On 10 March 2012 at 10:11 PM, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle for swerving across the double yellow line. Upon approach to the driver, identified as William Adams, the deputy detected a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage emanating from the passenger compartment. The deputy observed that Adams was slurring his speech and fumbling for his possessions while also needing to use his vehicle for balance upon exiting his vehicle.

The deputy administered roadside field sobriety tests which led the deputy to conclude Adams was under the influence. The deputy placed Adams under arrest and took him for a breath test which registered over the limit.

Adams was released upon the issuance of citations.

Incident: Fugitive Arrest
Date of Incident: 9 March 2012
Location: Baltimore, MD
Suspect: Orlando Carson Rogers Jr., 27, Baltimore, MD

Narrative: On 9 March 2012 at 11:00 PM, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office travelled to Baltimore where Orlando Rogers was being detained on two Circuit Court Violation of Probation Bench Warrants that were issued in February 2012 for two separate robbery cases.

The deputy took Rogers into custody and transported him to the Wicomico Central Booking Unit where he was processed. Rogers was held without bond on the two warrants.

Incident: Possession of Marijuana
Date of Incident: 11 March 2012
Location: Spring Hill Lane, Hebron, MD
Suspect: Miguel A. Valderas, 19, Quantico, MD

Narrative: On 11 March 2012 at 1:25 AM, a deputy from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office stopped a vehicle for failing to obey a traffic control device at the intersection of Ocean Gateway and Memory Garden Lane in Hebron. Upon approach to the vehicle the deputy detected the odor of marijuana emanating from within the passenger compartment of the vehicle he had just stopped. Based on the odor, the deputy searched the vehicle and located a baggie of what the deputy recognized as marijuana between the driver’s seat and center console. The deputy also recovered a second baggie of marijuana from the sock of Valderas.

The deputy placed Valderas under arrest and transported him to the Central Booking Unit where he was processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, the Commissioner detained Valderas in the Detention Center in lieu of $20,000.00 bond.

The deputy also discovered that Valderas’ privilege to drive a motor vehicle on the State of Maryland had been suspended and he was charged with that offense on a citation.

Incident: Attempted Burglary

2. Wade E. Fletcher, 20, Salisbury, MD
3. Derrek L. Frantum, 19, Pittsville, MD
4. George M. McPhail, 19, Hebron, MD

Narrative: On 11 March 2012 at 4:35 AM, deputies from the Wicomico County Sheriff’s Office responded to a reported glass break alarm at the Cheers Beer Store in the 1300 block of S. Salisbury Blvd.

Upon arrival, the deputies discovered the glass in the north exterior doors had been shattered. After meeting with witnesses and reviewing nearby surveillance video the deputies obtained a good description of the perpetrators and their vehicle, a dark green Dodge pick-up truck.

A short time later, the WCSO received another glass break alarm at a convenience store on Nanticoke Road. While on the way to that call, a deputy saw a green Dodge pick-up truck on Nanticoke Road matching the description of the one that was at Cheers. The truck was stopped and the subjects were identified as the ones who committed the crime at the Cheers store. Investigation revealed that the four
individuals were attempting to force entry into the establishments to obtain beer.

The group was unsuccessful at gaining entry into any of the businesses. A hammer, believed to have been used to smash the glass was found in the truck.

All four were placed under arrest and transported to the Central Booking Unit where they were processed and taken in front of the District Court Commissioner. After an initial appearance, all four were detained in the Detention Center in lieu of $30,000.00.
