St. Petersburg Russia Law Questions if Gay Rights are Human Rights?

St. Petersburg, Russia has adopted a new policy designed to protect young people from exposure to propaganda by homosexual rights groups. The policy has created controversy amongst gay rights group.

On March 7, 2012, Gov. Georgy Poltavchenko signed into a law a bill that will fine individuals up to $170 and companies up to $17,000 for violating a ban on "public actions aimed at propagandizing sodomy, lesbianism, bisexualism, and transgenderism among minors.”

The St Petersburg law also includes amendments introducing stricter punishments for pedophilia.

Applauding the recent legislation, the Russian Orthodox Church is calling for a similar nationwide ban. Dmitry Pershin, head of the Church’s youth council, says: “helping to protect children from information manipulation by minorities that promote sodomy.”

Responding to homosexualist activist Nikolay Alexeyev’s intention to organize protest rallies near children’s establishments, Pershin says “the persistence of sexual minorities and their intention to rally near children’s establishments indicate that this regional law is highly needed and should be urgently given federal status.”

  2. This is second time Russia has said something that the U.S. should have said.

I'm beginning to think they are turning into a better country than us.

I already stated that. I know you were trying to insult us, and I expected responses like yours.

Some people would rather bury their head in the sand and pretend everything is just fine and we are the greatest this and the greatest that. Blah, blah, blah.

The fact is, it is becoming more and more clear that we are NOT.

Keep wrapping yourself up in that flag and pretending you are a patriot or whatever you think you are.

It is not patriotic to refuse to face the truth, admit the faults and try to correct them.

It is not patriotic to keep going down the same path that leads to destruction while waving a flag and singing the national anthem.

I really do not wish to move to another country. I want mine to be better. I want the back-stabbing in-fighting to end. I want us to unite and share common goals.

I want to be proud of this country.

I also want to remind YOU that we have freedom of speech in this country, (at least for a little while), and I can express my opinion even if, and ESPECIALLY WHEN, it is not agreeable or politically correct.

There have been certain people in history, and probably still some in current times, that 'got rid' of people that did not agree with them or share the common beliefs.

Maybe you and your type would feel more comfortable among them.

I'm staying right here and will continue to call a pig a pig until such time it is no longer a pig.

You don't have to like it. You don't have to agree with it. But by God you will not stop it.

  5. Homosexuality is a mental illness and should be treated as so.
