A search has just started for a missing kayaker near Harpoon Hannahs bayside in North Ocean City. Coast Guard, OCPD, OC fire dept, and MSP Trooper 4 are participating in the search. The missing kayaker was boating with another person and seen to go over into the water 4 hours ago. The other kayaker was unable to find his friend and waited until around 11am to notify authorities.
Developing.....
The two kayakers are brothers. The missing brother is a 23 y/o, long black hair wearing jeans and a leather jacket. Correction....they were in canoes, and the missing canoe has been found but no sign of the victim yet.
ReplyDeleteRoxanna also has a boat in the water. it happened off of rt 54 behind the lobster shanty
ReplyDeletethe search has been expanded to the entire bay area, up into bishopville and other bay area, if you live along the coast walk out and check the coast line you just might save someones life today.
ReplyDeletepray this one is found safe & sound
ReplyDeleteThey aren't brothers. My brother is the one that is missing. I don't know who the other guy is that he was with.
ReplyDeletepssssssst Tony. How about getting out there and helping look.
ReplyDeleteTony I pray that you find your brother. My thoughts are with you and your family.
ReplyDeleteAs more info has come out about this, it seems the canoe capsized at around 5am. The person who was able to swim ashore then contacted his friends to come out and search for the other missing person, supposedly still in the water. Not until around 11am did someone finally contact the authorities. That is a full SIX hours later....SIX HOURS!!! I think someone has some 'splainin' to do. If this was simply an "overdue" boater, I could see a delay, but when two people go into the water at the same time, and the one guy can't find his buddy in a few minutes, you call 911 right away. I hope the missing person is OK...that's the most important thing...but on the surface it sure seems like there's something fishy here...no pun intended. Also, who goes out in a canoe at 5am (dark) wearing jeans and a leather jacket and no PFD. This just doesn't add up.
ReplyDelete4:15 you make alot of good points but there is nothing fishy about this. The canoe was taken from their neighbors un-asked, so with the POSSIBLE mix of drug and alcohol, i think this will be a case of things getting out of hand very fast. They called friends before the cops to avoid bringing them into it, unfortunately by being scared of getting in trouble this kid might have to live with the fact he could of saved his friends life if he had just faced the music. I truly hope that he is found somewhere but after 12 hours and the weather coming in the chances are getting smaller and smaller.I hope and pray this is not the case but this could be a very tough lesson for him and other people. Everyone makes bad choices and decisions you sometimes have to face the music especially when someone else life is involved. No one knows what would of been the outcome if they immediately called the cops but i would like to believe it would of been better than waiting 5 hours.
