WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Preventing Iran from developing a nuclear weapon is a national security interest of both Israel and the United States, President Barack Obama said Sunday in calling for continued diplomatic efforts but also pledging that all options -- including a military effort -- remain viable.
"All elements of American power" remain an option to stop Iran from becoming a nuclear power, including "a military effort to be prepared for any contingency," Obama told the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), a pro-Israel lobby group.
At the same time, Obama made clear that he preferred diplomacy over war both as a principle and in the case of Iran, and he warned that "too much loose talk of war" with Iran only benefits the Iranian government by driving up the price of oil.
Obama also said U.S. support for Israel should be a bipartisan issue, and he dismissed criticism of his record by Republicans, saying "it's not backed up by the facts."
Stay home, Barack. So what if they get nuclear capability? It will only contribute to the politeness of everyone in the region. Maybe this will stop the wars over there.
ReplyDeletePoliteness in that region? Muslims are not polite. Google The 12th Imam and see what the dictator of Iran has to say about it. He thinks it's his job to help hurry along things. He wants the world to end on his watch.
ReplyDeleteIt is not our job to police the world.
ReplyDelete2:45 truthfully The USA is part of UN which causes the USA to be some type of police of the world, but it doesn't mean that we have to be the police. Any way there pay attention to Iran The United States will go bankrupt because of all the working people( Who are doctors, lawyers and etc.) are going out of this country.
ReplyDeleteDo not believe anything Obama says. He's a liar, and a Muslim.
ReplyDeleteYeah, 2:16, that's what we need: Nuclear weapons in the hands of the screaming Iranian DOGS who cheered the 9/11 terrorists and imprisoned our diplomatic staff for a year!
ReplyDeleteSo we can see gas rise above $6.00 a gallon.
ReplyDeleteWTF???
Thank you Barrack for your promise. I just love promises. Keep them coming!
ReplyDeleteWe have plenty of oil resources in this hemisphere that, as evinced by recent treasonous administration decisions, are denied us.
ReplyDeleteyeah 1107, because we clearly see right now that increased drilling equals lower gas prices.
ReplyDeleteSo now you GOPers WANT Iran to have a nuclear weapon? Now you believe it is no big deal? Have you compeltely changed your world view or is this just another example of "Obama is for it, so I hate it?"
ReplyDeleteI am beginning to think that if he came out against gay marraige and abortion that even the most red-state uber-conservative of you would start waving rainbow flags of solidarity, sending money to health clinics, and shouting about how the Mooslim fakey president is stomping all over the freedoms of Americans.
Pick a side and stay with it. Up until just now, no one though Iran having the bomb was a good idea, and pretty much everyone was in agreement that we should do what we can to stop it. Don't let your Obama-hate get in the way of your judgment. It is unbecoming. Also, since he pretty much is guaranteed another four-year term, you guys are going to run out of actual things you believe in.
What will he do? Beat them with Nobel olive branches?
ReplyDelete8:37 What the hell are you talking about?
