Those who usually look forward to watching sports as a relief from the day’s politics were probably surprised on Tuesday night. That’s because politics and sports collided just minutes before 10 pm ET on Tuesday night when NBA legend Charles Barkley mocked co-host Kenny Smith, alleging Smith was a Republican because Smith suggested the president might be responsible for a delay in truTV’s airing of the first round of the NCAA tournament.
While waiting for the Iona and BYU game to start, which didn’t start on time, Smith suggested the delay might be due to the president attending the previous game and the related “security reasons.” That’s not that far-fetched, considering President Obama hosted British Prime Minister David Cameron for the game preceding the Iona-BYU game. But Barkley wasn’t having any of it.
“You can’t be making up stuff,” Barkley said while holding his hand to his head. “Oh yeah, you’re right, you’re right, you’re right, you’re right, you’re right. I forgot, you’re a Republican. Just make ‘em up as you go. Blame everything on the president. Ya’ll blame everything on the president.”
To be fair, the others in the studio we’re chuckling during the exchange. But some of it did seem to be a nervous laughter and the main studio host quickly moved on.

ReplyDeleteI want to see the video.
Charles Barkley is and always has been a racist A**hole. Defending his president, but to stupid to realize "his" president isn't black like him.
ReplyDeleteI wonder if Barkley is Muslim convert?
The link works fine. The video is at the bottom of that page.

Again, if you are going to call someone stupid, make sure you don't have any mistakes in your comment.
Another racist who thinks Obama has done nothing wrong...There should be an IQ test before you can vote.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't have said it better 11:48
ReplyDeleteBarkley is a fool but then again anyone who voted for Obama is either a fool or a racist.
ReplyDeletecuz blaming bush wouldve been better, right?
ReplyDeleteAlas, be still my beating heart and listen to words of wisdom from a washed-up Basketball drone. We all know by the displays of conduct and sportsmaship while they are plying thier respective trades to what degree thier individual schoolastic achievements were attained. Therefore thier positions on political issues should be regarded about as much as thoughts of whats for dinner. I'm of the mind, an MRI of Barkleys' head would reveal the remarkable resemblence of his brain to a bowl of stewed prunes.
ReplyDeleteBlacks are not bothering to conceal their hatred of whites now.
ReplyDelete10:38 You are sooo right.
