ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — A Maryland House committee has approved doubling the state’s “flush tax” from $30 a year to $60 a year.
The House Environmental Matters Committee passed the bill on Tuesday.
The measure, which is one of Gov. Martin O’Malley’s proposals, would enable the state to finish upgrading the 67 largest sewage
plants in the state to reduce pollution in the Chesapeake Bay.

A (wi' a capitol A ) holes!!!!!
ReplyDeleteStill would like to know where all the revenue from the lotteries are going, both MD and Powerball.
ReplyDeletePowerball increased the price to $2 should have been a fairly large increase in revenue.
Plus, everyone that hits those large jackpots get taxed out the wazoo! Where does all that money go? The state gets some it coming and going!
ReplyDeleteThey always say the money is going to this and that but never does.
ReplyDeletePause for a moment while pulling your pants back up and grab your ankles so you get the full effect. Ah, Maryland, my Maryland!
ReplyDeleteI just made a comment about this on another post.....I wonder how many people know that last year they transferred $290 million from the Bay Restoration Fund (where all the flush tax goes) to the general fund. This is just another back end tax. Mark my words, they will raid this fund again. This is just crazy
