Does Eating Red Meat Kill You … Or Is The Problem That We’re Eating FAKE Meat?
Harvard Medical School found that 1 in 10 premature deaths is caused by eating red meat:
Small quantities of processed meat such as bacon, sausages or salami can increase the likelihood of dying by a fifth, researchers from Harvard School of Medicine found. Eating steak increases the risk of dying by 12%.
Red meat often contains high amounts of saturated fat, while bacon and salami contain large amounts of salt. Replacing red meat with poultry, fish or vegetables, whole grains and other healthy foods cut the risk of dying by up to one fifth, the study found.
The study published in the Archives of Internal Medicine followed more than 100,000 people for around 28 years asking them periodically about their diet and lifestyle.
It was found that for every serving of red meat – equivalent to 3 ounces (85 grams) – eaten each day there was an 18 per cent increased risk of dying from heart disease and a 10 per cent increased risk of dying from cancer.
“The research itself seems solid and is based on two large scale cohort studies monitored over a long period of time.”

ReplyDeleteIt's not just red meat that's fake, but also chicken, cheese, eggs and genetetically modified fruits and vegetables. Contrary to popular belief (and what the government tells us) our food supply is not healthy.
ReplyDeleteOne needs to look no further than the Amish religious sect. From everything we read they should either be dead by the time they are 40 or suffering from one of the many chronic diseases the average American is trying in earnest to prevent-diabetes, high blood pressure, heart disease, high cholestorl.....but the overall rate for them is lower.
They use lard and sugar like it's going out of style. If they have chickens, eggs are on the menu a couple of times a day, sausage is a mainstay and a meal wouldn't be complete without some type of meat served. But their overall cancer rates are lower. Now how could that be?
Researchers theorize that one factor is their diet consists of milk and meat products untainted with what the USDA claims is good for us.
Oh, and scrapple is quite popular too within the Amish community!
Anyone notice that alot of meats these days seems 'watered down?'
ReplyDeleteI did a bit of research and here's what someone found while looking into this because they noticed Walmart meats seemed weird-
Chicken Breasts contain 23% solution
Pork roast contains 12%
Ground round 15%
Chuck roast 11%
Beef fillet 20%
What is this solution???? And why are they allowed to put it in our meats anyway??? Is it to add weight so we pay more per pound???
MD lawmakers are worrying about some crap like smoking in cars which may affect a small amount of children but allow all children (and adults) to eat all this stuff we don't even know what it is!
LOL-I could never understand the irony of these so called concerned parents who would get down right offended if one dared to smoke in a restaurant-all the while their little darlings were shoveling in their mouths piles of chemicals and free antibiotics all courtesy of the food industry.

ReplyDeleteYou hear all these stories about poor people having to eat dog and cat food and how terrible that is. Now come to find out we've been eating something that previously was only allowed in dog and cat food.

I don't believe it's red meat that is the problem. It's all of the antibiotics and other medications, including GROWTH HARMONES which are given to the animals.

Problem is, then WE are consuming it. Don't say it's not there affecting us, because it IS!
The Amish are healthier because they don't use the chemicals with their livestock and their chickens like we do. They don't use harmful pesticides in their gardens.
They don't eat the pre-packaged processed foods, like most people do. They don't eat at fast food restaurants, like most people do.
Since my husband and I stopped eating foods laden with processing and started cooking at home, using vegetables mainly from our organic garden, we've lost 40 lbs. Mind you, neither of us were extremely obese, but we knew we both had some extra wieght we were carrying.
Eat HEALTHY instead of consuming chemicals all day long and YOU will feel better...guaranteed!
I know that some of you won't agree. But living a vegan lifestyle is as healthy as it gets. When I cut all animal products from my diet I lost 40 lbs over several months. Was diabetic now off meds. High blood pressure gone. Cholesterol normal. We really are not built to eat meat. Look at a true carnivore and look at us. We have flat grinding teeth not sharp tearing teeth. Carnivores have short intestines so meat doesn't sit and rot. We have long intestines and meat takes so long to travel through that it starts to rot while inside us. To each his own but the meat industry has been slowly killing us for a long time. Same with the dairy industry. Did you know that in every glass of milk you drink an eyedropper full of pus and blood is allowed. Factory farming of any kind is bad and they will keep hiding everything they can from the public.
ReplyDelete10:56 and 11:04's comments remind me of something I just recently read about how some doctor's are rethinking and instead of treating diabetes and high blood pressure as a disease, they are being treated as a condition.
ReplyDeleteDrug manufactures want everything treated as a disease so doctor's prescibe drugs when in some instances both diabetes and high blood pressure can be "cured" without the use of drugs all by a lifestyle change.
