one thing they leave out is battery longevity. everyone has bought a cell phone that seems decent with charges. however, after 3 months, your phone just doesnt hold a charge like it used to. after a year, you need a new battery. rechargeable batteries are very 'fragile' in this sense.

ReplyDeleteOnce there are 3rd generation lithium transpo batteries out there and Large flexible solar sheets to charge with they will be a much better option for long distance. Also in the works is photovoltaic paint so if it's sunny out your ride could charge it self. Don't wait for the big corps to bring this tech to market, it's all gonna be small conversion shops and homemade for quite some time but if you want a cheaper ride, have some mechanical know how and time, you can make it.

Until batteries can hold the same amount of energy pound for pound and cubic foot per cubic foot as gasoline they are not viable.
P.S. Currently the desparity between the two is enormous
